Rita Prodger spoke regarding her safety concerns at the intersection of Floribunda Avenue
and EI Camino Real due to vehicle speeding, cars running traffic lights, and the amount of
traffic.
Manito Velasco spoke regarding bicyclist safety issues on California Drive and felt that there

Mr. Chou explained the background and process needed to develop strategies to

sub -committee members report back to the entire Commission on any progress.

Mr. Velasco suggested making Chapin Avenue 90° parking with the idea that such a
design would gain 20-25% parking.

Subject: consideration of stop sign -Victoria Rd and Howard Rd
Auto forwarded by a Rule
Dear Traffic Safety &Parking Commission (TSPC),
I'm writing in the hope you can help me and my neighbors have the city consider installing a
four-way stop at the intersection of Victoria Rd and Howard Rd. I own and live at 201 Victoria
Road (on the corner of Howard and Victoria). Here's a quick list of why I think this is a
necessary safety upgrade to this intersection:
1) Howard Road is a wide (bike lanes), and busy street that connects the Lyon Hoag
neighborhood with downtown Burlingame. The stretch of Howard between the crossroads of
Dwight and Humboldt is the longest stretch of Howard road without a stop sign (over 0.25
miles). This combination of factors means cars can get up to a high rate of speed (and often do)
by the time they approach Humboldt.
2) Victoria Road is one of the few exits off of Rollins road, and thus has a fair amount of traffic
(especially during commute hours). As people try to cross Howard, they are forced to cross a
wide road, and go over Howard's large crown. As you cross Howard, you have to brake inorder
to avoid scraping the front fender on the gutter of Victoria. This can create a dangerous situation
since cars coming down Howard are often speeding, and do not anticipate the slow speed of
cross traffic. I've witnessed one accident and it's almost a weekly occurrence to hear screeching
tires and honking horns.
3) Victoria Park is at the corner of this busy intersection. The Lyon Hoag neighborhood has a
large number of families with young children. Families and children have to cross Howard in
order to get to the park. Having a four way stop would be a significant safety upgrade for
children who would like to play in their local neighborhood park. This reason alone seems like a
justifiable reason to turn the intersection of Howard and Victoria into a four way stop.
Thank you for your consideration. If you would like me to present my concerns at a future
TSPC meeting, city council meeting, or direct my concerns to a different branch of the City of
Burlingame, please let me know. If there is anything else that I need to do for you to consider
this, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Todd Weller

Subject: 4 -way stop at Howard Avenue and Victoria Road
Auto forwarded by a Rule
As a concerned citizen regarding the amount of traffic coming up and down Howard Avenue at
Victoria Park, I feel that a 4 -way stop should be placed for the protection of the children and
families crossing back and forth to Victoria Park. I feel that the cost incurred would be minute
for such a safety precaution.
Sincerest Regards,

Please consider adding a four-way stop and crosswalk at the intersection of Howard Rd and Victoria
Rd.
Howard Rd is a wide, busy road, that children and families have to cross in order to enter Victoria
Park.
The addition of stop signs and a crosswalk on Howard would be an important and common sense
safety upgrade.
Other Burlingame parks have similar all -way stops and crosswalks at their access points.

I've read through the PDF on the residential traffic calming program and I'd like to know who to initiate a
request with.
I live on Ray Drive and we have a persistent problem with people driving at high speeds. Part of the
problem is that the street is wide and has no obstructions/stops through the entire length of the street. It's
especially a problem during school pickup/dropoff hours for Lincoln and BIS. This week I did informal
measurements and often found people driving at 4045MPH.
