Minutes
December 19, 2000
I. Call to Order
The meeting of December 19, 2000 was called to order by President
Cecile Coar at 4:30 pm.
II. Roll Call
Trustees Present: Jeff Berger,Cecile Coar, Jane Dunbar,
Andrew Gurthet, Mary Herman
Staff Present: Alfred Escoffier, City Librarian
Sidney Poland, Recorder
City Hall: Larry Anderson, City Attorney
III Warrants & Special Fund
The Trustees unanimously agreed to approve the warrants as

IV. Minutes
The Trustees unanimously agreed to approve the minutes of the
November, 2000 meeting. M/S/C (Dunbar/Herman)
V. Correspondence
Correspondence mailed in the packets was reviewed.
VI. From the Floor (Public Comments)
VII. Reports
A. City Librarian's Report
The City Librarian reviewed his report highlighting the following
issues.
1. Holiday Program -'The second annual holiday
program featured the Woodwind Ensemble from Crocker Middle
School and "Brava" of the Peninsula Girl's Chorus. Local florists
donated festive holiday floral arrangements to decorate the library.

2. Elegant Affair - The annual Elegant Affair held at the
Library was attended by over 200 guests. Over $15,000 was raised
to enhance the Library's collections.
3. Easton Library - Kathryn Page of Kathryn Page
Associates has been engaged by the Library for a review of branch
library services. Her study is expected to be completed early next
year.
4. Moody's Business Database - Burlingame Library will
joint venture with San Mateo and South San Francisco Libraries to
utilize a one-year trail subscription to Moody's business database.
4. Personnel - Recruitment for the reference librarian
position closed on December 15th; interviews will be held on
January 4, 2001.
B. Foundation Report -
1. Annual Meeting will be held January 11, 2001.
VIII. Unfinished Business
A. Posting - Larry Anderson, City Attorney, reviewed his
Memorandum entitled Posting and Distribution of Materials in Library
Buildings. The Board discussed the Memorandum, as well as the draft of
the revised policy. The Board requested that the following procedures be
included in the policy: all materials be approved and date stamped by a
designated reference librarian, posted materials have specific time frame,
and the approved policy be placed on the Library website. The Board
agreed that the City Attorney and City Librarian should present a revised
draft at the January 16th meeting. M/S/C (Herman/Dunbar)
B. Duncan Trust - The Board reviewed the Peninsula
Community Foundation's latest reporting statement for the Roger
and Jean Hunt Duncan Fund and agreed that the Foundation had
finally provided substantial financial data.
IX. New Business - None
X. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 5:30pm. M/S/C
