CALL TO ORDER. 7:04 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG. 3. ROLL CALL. 4 of 5 Commissioners present. (Commissioner Simonson absent) 4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT None. 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Motion: To accept the minutes of August 12, 2010 as submitted M/S/C: Akers/Londers; 4/0/1 (Commissioner Simonson absent) 6. PUBLIC COMMENTS Ms. Giorni offered a suggestion regarding traffic detours when the PUC waterline project work closes lanes on El Camino Real. Ms. Giorni also suggested that the City ask Caltrans to pay for the noticing to residents regarding the detours. 7. CURRENT BUSINESS None. 8. Information/Discussion Items from Commission and Staff 8.1 Traffic Engineer’s Report 8.1.1 Broadway Interchange Project – Public Meeting Announcement Mr. Chou reported that there would be a meeting on Wednesday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Lane Room regarding this project. He said that this meeting would be interesting and informative. He added that is would be in a workshop format with a short slideshow presentation in between. Along with the project design staff and environmental staff, there would also be d rawings, renditions, and plans for the public to view. The Commission was also reminded that the EIR was open for comment until September 29th. 8.1.2 Various School Safety Improvements – Verbal Report Mr. Chou reported that city staff had implemented several safety improvements at four elementary school sites (Washington School, McKinley School, Lincoln School and Franklin School) in coordination with the beginning of the new school year. 8.2 Traffic Sergeant’s Report 8.2.1 General/Selective Traffic Enforcement Report – Staff Update Officer Witt reported that the school year opened with a minimal number of complaints. Officer Witt stated that the Broadway Pet Parade will be occurring on September 25th and that Broadway would be duly noticed regarding the closure. Officer Witt briefly mentioned that a private individual had been directing traffic at Adeline and Avarado for Mercy High School, but that the use of that individual was not in compliance with the Municipal Code. He stated that this issue is being addressed and that any complaints regarding Mercy High School should be directed to him directly. 8.3 Commissioners’ Comments and Concerns Commissioner Londer mentioned that he received a complaint from Elaine Garcia. Officer Witt stated that the issue has since been resolved and asked that any further communication be directed to him directly. 9. COMMUNICATIONS None. 10. Commission & Committee Reports 10.1 Burlingame Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory committee (B/PAC) None. 10.2 Website/Communications Subcommittee Commissioner Akers reported that he met with Mr. Chou and discussed the general direction of the website. He said that they plan to modify some of the language of the website and hope to have a mock up or live update of the page for next month’s meeting. Commissioner Akers recommended that the Commissioner’s basic and contact information be added to the end of the agendas. Commissioner Akers recommended that the Commissioners’ email addresses be added at the end of the agendas. 10.3 Neighborhood Parking Working Group Chair Noworolski reporting that the committee met briefly discussed the October Burlingame Avenue 2-hour Parking Evaluation. Mr. Chou stated that this agenda will likely be pushed back further. The BID was also on “hold” for at least a month due to the close number of protests/support on this matter at the last Council meeting. 11. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS 11.1 El Camino Real/Floribunda Avenue Left-Turn Caltrans Project (October) 11.2 Burlingame Avenue 2-Hour Parking Evaluation (November/December) 11.3 Adeline Drive/Cortez Avenue Ped Safety Measures (October) Commissioner Akers asked that we look at pedestrian corridors – particularly the sidewalks on El Camino Real and asked that this be added to a future agenda. 12. ADJOURNMENT 7:35 p.m.
