1. CALL TO ORDER. 7:12 p.m.

5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -
Motion: To accept the minutes of May 13, 2010 as submitted
M/S/C: Simonson/Akers; 2/0/3 (Akers abstained, Noworolski & Serrato absent)
6. PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
7. CURRENT BUSINESS
7.1 Pedestrian Mall concept – Discussion
Mr. Chou reported that last month there was a very brief discussion about a Pedestrian
Mall concept. He stated that the direction of this evening’s discussion should be
determining what organization this concept should be proposed to and then for Council
direction.
It was suggested that the concept be presented to Chamber of Comme rce to see if
there is interest.
Discussion occurred regarding “Streets Alive” which involves multiple cities. It was
suggested that someone contact the “Streets Alive” parent organization and inquire as
to how a City could be involved in that event.
Commissioner Londer reported that a meeting is coming up in Redwood City and he
would attend the meeting and report back.
8. Staff Reports
8.1 Traffic Engineer’s Report
8.1.1 101 Auxiliary Lane Project – Staff Update
Mr. Chou reported the project was near completion and Caltrans was to begin
landscaping by Rollins Road. Mr. Chou said that he would ask Caltrans about
bollards at the entrance of the new pedestrian overcrossing.
8.2 Traffic Sergeant’s Report
8.2.1 General/Selective Traffic Enforcement Report – Staff Update
Officer Witt reported that the focus of last month centered around the schools,
particularly Mercy High School, as there were complaints regarding student and
parent drivers.
He added that Police staff would also focus during the summer on the main
thoroughfares, especially on Bayshore, due to the tourist season.
Officer Witt also reported that the Red Flex camera went off line on June 1, 2010.

10. COMMISSION & COMMITTEE REPORTS
10.1 Burlingame Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory committee (B/PAC)
Commissioner Simonson reported that the Safe Route to Schools Grant requests for
proposals were beyond the scope of what the City of Burlingame could put together
as far as minimum dollar amount and complexity. She reported that at this time, the
City elected to passing on this grant unless the County changes the parameters on
their requests for proposals.
Commissioner Simonson reported that the Burlingame Criterium was coming up on
June 27th and wanted to get a little more public relations on this event. She also
stated that she wanted this in conjunction with the City getting more visibility of the
B/PAC Committee.
Mr. Chou added that the SHARROWS markings were added onto California Drive.
10.2 Website/Communications Subcommittee
Commissioner Akers reported that he would be meeting with Mr. Chou next week
regarding this subcommittee. He reported that there were some preliminary ideas
about setting up email accounts as a commission group with the city domain name
and photo of the commission as a group or individuals on the website.
10.3 Neighborhood Parking Working Group
None.

Cancel July meeting and resume in August.
