CALL TO ORDER. 7:00 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG. 3. ROLL CALL. 3 of 5 Commissioners present (Vice Chair Akers and Commissioner Noworolski arrived after roll call) 4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT None. 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Motion: To accept the minutes of May 10, 2012 as submitted M/S/C: Londer/Serrato; 3/0/2 (Vice Chair Akers and Commissioner Noworolski not present) 6. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. 2 7. CURRENT BUSINESS 7.1 Future TSPC participation at Farmers/Fresh Market – Discussion A commissioner’s table is reserved at the Farmers/Fresh market the 1st Sunday of every month. TSPC is working with other groups/Commissions to share the table. Chair Simonson thanked Commissioner Londer for coordinating and Mr. Chou for the table signage and displays. 7.2 Standing Committees and Committee Assignments – Further Discussion Discussion occurred regarding disbanding some of the subcommittees. Ad hoc task forces can be formed to address future needs should they arise. Motion: Thank, excuse and disband the following subcommittees: Website/Communications Subcommittee, Pedestrian Corridors Subcommittee and Neighborhood Parking Working Group. M/S/C: Akers/Noworolski; 5/0/0 7.3 Public Works Traffic Safety Brochures – Further Discussion Mr. Chou will send electronic copies to the Commissioners for their review and input. Each Commissioner took on one of the brochures: Bicyclists – Chair Simonson Neighborhood Safety Tips – Commissioner Noworolski Pedestrian Signals – Commission Serrato Pedestrian Crosswalks – Vice Chair Akers Speed Limits – Commissioner Londer The Commission will attempt to tackle a few of these brochures at their meetings - starting with Pedestrian Crosswalks, Bicyclists and then Neighborhood Traffic Tips. 8. Staff Reports 8.1 Engineer’s Report 8.1.1 Requests/comments/responses to public traffic concerns (stop signs, crosswalks, speed control, parking) Mr. Chou has not heard back from residents on pending matters, and staff-level matters were resolved through maintenance service requests. 3 8.1.2 Construction projects - Illuminated Crosswalk replacement project Staff is currently working with the contractors to set up a schedule. Installation will occur later this month or early July. - 2012 Street Resurfacing Project Mr. Chou reported that this project has gone out to bid. - Burlingame Village Water Main Replacement Project Mr. Chou reported that there is little need now for California Drive closures. The majority of work has been done, and Ranger Pipeline is now working on lateral tie-ins to the main pipeline. - Parking rate and meter change out The parking meter change-out has been successfully completed. Staff needs to finalize the Request For Proposal (RFP) for Smart Meters. - Broadway/US 101 Interchange Project Mr. Chou reported that the plans are at 65% completion, and that they would be read for City review at the end of this month. - Bay Point (Millennium) Development This project recently went before the Planning Commission and will be presented to City Council on Monday, June 18. Project documents are available at City Hall. 8.2 Traffic Sergeant’s Report 8.2.1 General/Selective Traffic Enforcement Report Corporal Witt acknowledged the parking meter repair shop staff for the successful change out of parking meters. Corporal Witt also reported that the City is testing a radar/message board, and was close to making a purchase. Corporal Witt also informed the Commission that there was to be a panel discussion event hosted by Burlingame Police, titled “Car Accidents: How to Prepare, Prevent and to Have a Positive Outcome” on July 30 at the Main Library. 4 8.3 Commissioners’ Comments and Concerns Commissioner Serrato clarified that she submitted Item 9.5 on the agenda. 9. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Chou stated that the items below that need addressing will be responded to on a staff level. 9.1 Meter & Lot Rate Increase Notice – Burlingame Downtown District 9.2 Lily Quisol – Broadway/Drake Intersection 9.3 John Pivirotti – Howard/California Drive Signal 9.4 Joanne Yun – Adeline/Balboa Stop Sign 9.5 Anonymous – Front Yard Vehicle Collision 9.6 Lisa Kreft – BIS & Franklin School Traffic 9.7 Sustainable San Mateo County, San Mateo County Health System, Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter – Healthy Communities Forum June 18, 2012 10. COMMISSION & COMMITTEE REPORTS 10.1 Burlingame Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory committee (B/PAC) Mr. Chou reported that B/PAC met and was updated on the Burlingame Point Project and the Broadway Interchange Project. 10.2 Website/Communications Subcommittee None. 10.3 Pedestrian Corridors Subcommittee None. 10.4 Neighborhood Parking Working Group None. 11. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS 11.1 Primrose/Howard Avenue – Possible 24-minute green zone (July) 5 11.2 Traffic Safety Brochures 12. ADJOURNMENT 8:23 p.m.
