A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN
AFSCME LOCAL 829 BURLINGAME ASSOCIATION OF MID- MANAGEMENT
UNIT (BAMM) AND THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE MEMORANDUM ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY
WHEREAS, AFSCME Local 829 represents the newly organized AFSCME Local 829
Burlingame Association of Mid -Management Unit, formerly recognized as the Burlingame
Association of Middle Managers (BAMM); and
WHEREAS, the BAMM labor agreement expired on December 31, 2015; and
WHEREAS, BAMM elected to decertify and then to join AFSCME as a management
unit of AFSCME Local 829 in the spring of 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City and the AFSCME Local 829 Burlingame Association of Mid -
Management Unit representatives have been meeting over the past several months to
negotiate the terms of a new agreement; and
WHEREAS, on October 20, 2016, AFSCME Local 829 Burlingame Association of Mid -
Management Unit employees ratified a tentative agreement that is within the authority
provided by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the attached Memorandum of Understanding is the first negotiated
contract between the AFSCME Local 829 Burlingame Association of Mid -Management Unit
and the City; and
WHEREAS, the major terms of the new four-year agreement are similar to those
included in recent agreements with the AFSCME Maintenance and Administrative Units, the
Teamsters Unit, and the Department Head and Unrepresented Unit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The changes in existing salary and benefits of the employees represented by AFSCME
Local 829 Burlingame Association of Mid -Management Unit as contained in the attached
Memorandum of Understanding between AFSCME Local 829 and the City of Burlingame
are approved.
2. The City Manager is directed to execute the Memorandum of Understanding between
AFSCME Local 829 Burlingame Association of Mid -Management Unp' nd the City of
Burlingame. r\
