AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR LICENSE UPON VEHICLES DRA7.1,7, OPERATED
OR PROPELLED UPON THE STREETS OF THF CITY OF BURLINGAME.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF BURLINCAME DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS: -
Section 1. Every person, firm or corporation engaged in carrying
on business in the City of Burlingame and driving, operating orqjro-
pelling or causing to be driven, operated or propelled upon the streets
of the City of Burlingame a vehicle or vehicles as a means of carrying
on said business shall pay a license tax or, such vehicle or vehicles
as follows:
For each hay wagon, tank wagon, brewery wagon, scavenger wagon,
lumber wagon, meat wagon, dirt wagon, gravel or cement wagon, express
wagon, interurba# delivery wagon, or any truck, dray or van or other
vehicles of a carrying capacity of two tons or more, the Sum of Sixteen
Dollars (1116.00) per year; .
For each hay wagon, tank wagon, brewery wagon, scavenger wagon,
lumber wagon, meat wagon, dirt wagon, gravel or cement wagon, express
wagon, interurban delivery wagon, or any truck, dray or van or other
vehicles of a carrying capacity of one ton or more and less than two
tons, the Sum of Eight Dollars (4$8.00) per year;
For all other vehicles, excepting private carriages, private
automobiles and vehicles used exclusively for pleasure and hearse and
dead wagons, the Sum of Six Dollars (06.00) per year;
Section 2. The license required by this ordinance shall become
due and sayable on the lst day of October of each year and shell be

tax_ is paid after the date when annually payable, then same may be pro-
rated over the remaining fractional year, which shall be not less than
one-half year; when a license shall remain delinquent there shall be

added to the whole amount or sum of such license the Sum of Twenty -Five
Cents as a penalty for each month of delinquency and the entire amount
or sum shall become a debt due and owing the City for which the City may
collect in a suit at law.
Section 3. All license taxes shall be paid to the Tax Collector
of the City of Burlingame who shall upon the receipt of same enter -same
in a book kept for that purpose with the name and number of the parti-
cular applicant; and thereupon the Tax Collector shall issue a metallic
tag bearing the words "License" and "Burlingame" with a number, and
suitable for affixing to the particular vehicle.
Section 4. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector to have
in his possession at all times license tags consecutively numbered and
bearing the year for which they are issued.
Section 5. The person, firm or corporation applying for such
license shall affix to his, her -or its vehicle in a conspicuous place
the license tag and permit inspection to be made by the Tax Collector
of same.
Section 6. Ordinance No. 6 of the City of Burlingame is hereby
expressly repealed and the Tax Collector is expressly authorized to
rebate any sum or sums that may be due any person, firm or corporation
under said Ordinande No. 6 at the time this Ordinance goes into effect.
Said sum or sums shall be pro -rated over the time for which the license
under Ordinance No. 6 was issued.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall not apply to vehicles used in
Inter -State Commerce or those vehicles from without the City that are
used in the business of a public utility as part of such business, and
as classified as such under the Railroad Commission Act of the State of
California, approved December 23rd, 1911; nor shall this Ordinance apply
to vehicles used in the pursuit of the business expressed under Ordinance
Section Any person violating any provictions of this ordinance
shall upon conviction thereof be fined the Sum not less than Ten Dollars
(10.00) or more than One Hundred Dollars,($100.00) or by imprisonment

in the City Jail not exceeding ten (10) days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
Section 9. This ordinance shall be published for two (2)
successive publications in the Burlingame Advance and be in force and
effect
