DOGS TTITHIN THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AND INSURING MORE ADEQUATE PRO-
TECTION TO LIFE OF THF PEOPLE THERRIN.

'WHEREAS, it has been brought to the notice of this Board upon
competent evidence and authorityadducedthat there are certain dogs
affected with rabies within the City of Burlingame., and whereas.,
these particular conditions make it imperative that protection should
be given the people of Burlingame in a manner that would serve to
insure safety and extermination of the disease;
NOW BE IT ORDAINEV, that the following conditions be observed by
the people of the City of Burlingame under 'the penalty hereinafter
stated;
Section lo 'Every owner or possessor of a dog within the City Of
Burlingame shall supply his dog with an effective wire muzzle when
such dog is upon the public thoroughfare, and this will apply to a
dog either with or without a leash and to licensed as well as unli-
censed dogs; and unless said condition is complied with, it is within
the discretion of the City Uarshal . or the Health InST)ector to kill such
dog or dogs at a time and place as will not disturb the peace and quiet
of the citizens of the City of 9,urlingame.
Section 2. Whenever it is brought to the attention of the Board
of Health of the City of Burlingame that a dog has been bitten by a
another dog having the rabies, it is the duty of the owner of said
dog to see that such dog is properly quarantined under the supervision

of the Board of Health,, which shall include the chaining of the dog
so bitten within the proper enclosure for ninety days.
Section 3. Any person failing to cojuply with the provision of
this ordinance shall upon conviction thereunder be fined in a sum not
to exceed One Hundred Dollars. This ordinance shall be posted in three
public places in the City of nVio"Am-4
