AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 242
OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME, ENTITLED, "Al
ORDINANCE SUPPIEL:4ENTING THE BUILDING ORD-
INANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AND PRO-
VIDING PROTECTION TO ALL WOODEN CONSTRU04
TIONS OF SAME", BY REPEALING SECTIONS 1,
2, and 3 THEREOF AND RE -NUMBERING SECTIONS
4, 5, and 6 THEREOF AND AMENDING SECTION
4 THEREOF.

The City Counopil of the City of Burlingame do ordain as
follows:
Seo. 1. Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Ordinance No. 242 of
the Cit�Burlingame entitled, "An Ordinance supplementing
the Building Ordinance of the City of Burlingame and provid-
Ing protection to all wooden construction of same", are here-
by repealed.
Seo. 2. Sections 4, 5 and 6 of said Ordinance No. 242
are hereby re -numbered as follows: Section 4, renumbered as
Section 1; Section 5 renumbered as Section 2; Section 6 re-
numbered as Section 3.
Seo. 3. Section 4 as re -numbered Section 1 of said
Ordinance No. 242, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1.
A termite shield shall be provided, oontin-
uing completely around the surface of the founda-
tion below the woodwork of the building on both
the inside and outside surfaces.
Such shield may be formed of a strip of non-
oorrodable metal firmly inserted in the surface of
the masonry, or between the foundation -and the
wood, with the projeotin� edge bent downward at an
angle of fourty-five (45) decrees, and extending
horizontally at least two (2) inches from the face
of the foundation; or sills may be pressure impreg-
nated with coal tar creosote. Floor sleepers or
joists imbedded in masonry or concrete, or laid on
concrete which is in contact with the earth, shall
also be pressure impregnated with coal tar creosote;
and un -treater wooden posts or columns supported by
concrete floors must rest upon a metal or concrete
footing projecting at least two (2) inches above the
finished floor.
