A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SIDE LETTER AGREEMENTS
WITH THE ASSOCIATION OF POLICE ADMINISTRATORS
WHEREAS, meet and confer sessions were held with the Association of Police
Administrators, whose Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) expires on December 31,
2018: and
WHEREAS, the amendments are related to new articles in the Association of Police
Administrators MOU: and
WHEREAS, the City compensates employees who are temporarily working in a
higher classification above their regular rate of pay; and
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment regarding temporary upgrade pay ('acting
pay') will memorialize the City's actual additional compensation for temporary upgrade
pay ('acting pay') for the Association of Police Administrators, and;
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment regarding temporary upgrade pay ('acting
pay') will provide a 15% differential for the duration of an assignment to work in a higher
classification for the Association of Police Administrators; and
WHEREAS, the hourly rate of pay includes all eligible premium pay; and
WHEREAS, the hourly rate of pay is not currently defined in the Association of
Police Administrators MOU: and
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment regarding hourly rate of pay will memorialize
the actual City -calculated hourly rate of pay for the Association of Police Administrators,
and;
WHEREAS, the City and the Association of Police Administrators have met and
conferred developed signed side letters to amend the MOU for temporary upgrade pay
(`acting pay') and hourly rate of pay.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
1. The amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding for the Association of
Police Administrators, set forth in the Side Letters attached as Exhibit A, are
approved.
2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to execute the Side Letter
agreements with the Association of Police Administrators.

certify that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council
held on the 21 st day of August 2017, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
