AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE REGULATING THE KEEPING AND r,
HANDLING OF DOGS WITHIN THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AND :� E
INSURING MORE ADEQUATE PROTECTION TO LIFE OF THE
PEOPLE THEREIN.
The City Council of the City of Burlingame do ordain as
ws:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, it has been brought to the notice of the
ouncil upon competent evidence and authority adduced that there
re certain hydrophobic tendencies among certain dogs within the
ity of Burlingame; and whereas, these particular conditions make
t imperative that protection should be given the people of Burlin-
ame in a manner that would serve to insure safety and exterminatio
f the disease;
NOW BE IT ORDAINED, that for a period of ninety days from .and
after the passage of this ordinance that the following conditions
be observed by the people of the City of Burlingame under the pen-
alty hereinafter stated;
SECTION 2. Every owner or possessor of a dog within the City
of Burlingame shall supply his dog with an effective w&e muzzle
when such dog is upon the public thoroughfare, and this will apply
to a dog either with or without a leash and to licensed as well as
unlicensed dogs;
SECTION 3. The requirement of muzzling dogs as set forth in
the preceding sections shall not be in effect where a proper cer-
tificate from the Veterinary Surgeon is produced and filed as a
part of the records of the City of Burlingame when showing that the
said dog or dogs have been sufficiently inoculated.
SECTION 4. This ordinance is construed as an emergency ordi.-

SECTION 5. Any person failing to comply with the provision of
this ordinance shall upon conviction thereunder be fined in a sum
not to exceed twenty-five ($25.00) dollars. This ordinance shall
be posted in three public places in the City of Burlingame and be
published in the Burlingame Advance, a newspaper in said City, and
shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
