AN ORDINANCE ATENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NUAj1H3LR 250 OF
TEE CITY CF BURLINGAM; iINTITTED "AN ORDINANCE
FE GULATING GASOLINE AND AUTCMOBILE
SERVICE STATIONS IN THE CITY
OF BURLINGAME".
WHEREAS, the growing prevalence of gasoline and automobile
service stations in the City of Burlingame has made it necessary
that certain regulations pertaining to the safety and general wel-
fare of the inhabitants therein requires that the City Council ordain
safeguards as to the location of such stations, it is therefore
ordained by the City Council of the City of Burlingame that Section
1 of Ordinance numbered 250 entitled "An Ordinance Regulating Gaso-
line and Automobile Stations in the City of Burlingame" is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 1.
Section 1. All gasoline and automobile service stations
supplying gasoline and oil to the public in the City of Burlingame
shall only be located within the commercial and industrial districts
of said City at arterial traff.'ic stop intersections to main highways
or main business streets, avenues, roads or drives when in the com-
mercial districts, and whan on said main highways or main business
streets, avenues, roads or drives, both sides thereof can be used
for commercial stores or building, and *:.hen there shall no.t be
located any other gasoline service station as above defined within
two (2) average City blocks of the closest boundary line of said
station already installea and. on a basis of block distance computed
at 245 feet per block (not including street width or crossing), or
when in the industrial district, where no arterial stops exist on
account of no block subdivisions existing, no said gas stations .as
above defined shall be located within 490 feet of ,one another,

Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
urgency and emergency measure or ordinance for tY:e preservation
of a con,-rehensive zoning plan.
Section 3. Th.i,, Ordinance shall be published in the
Burlingame Advance -Star in the manner and for the time required
by Law, and be in force and in effect from and ?fter date of its
