AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF
THE CITY OF BURLINGAME BY ADDING THERETO A
NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 1221-A;
LIMITING TRE SPEED OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON
CALIFORNIA DRIVE BETWEEN BURLINGAME AVENUE
AND DUFFERIN AVENUE SO AS NOT TO EXCEED 35
MILES PER HOUR.

WHEREAS an engineering and traffic survey had pursuant to
law reveals and determines that the prima facie speed limit of
55 miles per hour for vehicular traffic is more than is reason-
able or safe for driving on California Drive between Burlingame
Avenue and Dufferin Avenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Burlingame
ordains:
Section 1. The Ordinance Code is hereby amended by adding
a new section to be }mown as Section 1221-A which shall read as
follows:
Section 1221-A - No person shall drive a vehicle upon
California Drive between Burlingame Avenue and Dufferin Avenue
at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour; it being hereby
declared and determined that the speed limitation hereby estab-
lished is most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of
traffic and is reasonable and safe.
The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed
to procure appropriate signs giving notice hereof and to erect
several such signs on California Drive between Burlingame Avenue
and Dufferin Avenue and this ordinance shall be effective when
such signs are erected.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be published once as re-
quired by law.

do hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced at
a regular meeting of the City Council held on November 17, 1947,
andadopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held on
December 1, 19472 by the following vote:
