AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF
THE CITY OF BURLINGAME BY ADDING THERETO A
NEW SECTION 1514, PROVIDING FOR THE CARE,
RESTITUTION, SALE AND DESTRUCTION OF UNCLAIMED
PROPERTY IN THE POSSESSION OF THE POLICE DE-
PARTMENT; GIVING NOTICE TIEREOF
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1 - The Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is
hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 1514 which shall
read as follows:
Section 1514. Any property which shall come into the
possession of the Police Department of the City, unless lawfully
and rightfully restored to the person or persons entitled there-
to, shall be retained by said Department for a period of at least
six (6) months. If the property has not been rightfully claimed
or its possession delivered to the persons entitled thereto with-
in said period of time, it shall be the duty of the Chief of
Police to sell such property at public auction to the highest
bidder and he shall give notice of such sale at least five (5)
days before the time fixed therefor by publication once in a
newspaper published in the county; provided that such articles
that are prohibited by law, shall be destroyed.
