OF ORDINANCES IN COFFLICT THEREWITH.
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as
follows:
Section 1. DIVISION THREE - PLAITTTING COT'Z,TISSION - Compris
Sections 615, 616 and 617 and also Section 1397 of the Ordinance
Code of the City of Burlingame are hereby repealed.
Section 2. The Ordinance Code of the City of, Burlinr;ame is
hereby amended by adding thereto a new Division Three - PLANNING
COT:1,IISSIOIT - which shall read as follows:

Section 615. There shall be a Plannin;; Commission of the
City of Burlingame, consistinT, of seven (7) voting members, one
(1) ex -officio member and three (3) advisory members. The voting
members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the
Council and shall hold office for a term of four (4) years, or
until their respective successors shall have been appointed and
qualified; however, upon the effective date of this ordinance,
the members shall be appointed: two for one year, two for two
years, two for three years and one for four years; all terns
commencing on the date of the appointment of the first members of
the Commission. The members shall serve without compensation,
but all necessary expenses incurred by them while acting in their
official capacity shall be paid by appropriate action of tdie City
Council.
The ex -officio member shall be a member of the City Council
and shall be chosen by that body upon the nomination of the Mayor.
He shall have all the rights, privileges and duties of membership
except the rij-at to vote.
The three advisory members shall be the City Attorney, the
City EnZineer and the City'Building inspector.
The advisory members shall attend such meetings as may be
required by the Commission and to participate in all of its dis-
cussions and deliberations but shall have no right to vote. The
term of office of the advisory members shall be concurrent with
their respective office tenure.
Section 615.1. The City Council may remove, for cause, any
appointive member of the Commission from office, prior to the ex-
piration of his term, by the affirmative vote of not less than
four-fifths of all of the members of the City Council. Vacancies
shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor subject to confirm-
ation of the City Council, and shall be for the unexpired portion
of the term of office vacated.
Section 615.2. The Commission shall hold regular meetings at
least once a month and such other meetings as may be necessary or
expedient. A majority of the voting members of the Commission
shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting the
business of the Commission. The Commission shall elect a Chairman
and Secretary from among the appointed members, for a term of one
year, and in the event of a vacancy of either office, may elect
a successor. The Commission may appoint such other officers for
the purpose of carrying on its business and functions as it may
determine.
The Commission shall adopt rules to be approved by the City
Council for the transaction of its business, and shall keep a
record of all proceedings, resolutions, findings and transactions
of the Commission for public inspection, and shall file a copy
thereof v- th the City Clerk for the City Council.
The Commission may, with the approval of the City Council,
contract for and employ Planning consultants and other specialists
for such services as it may require.
Section 615.3. The Planning Commission shall have such power
duties, authority and procedures as provided by the laws of the
>tate of California and the provisions of the Ordinance Code of th
:ity of Burlingame.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be published once as requir-
ed by law.
