AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1417 OF THE
ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
BY PERMITTING AN INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF
STORAGE OF INFLAMMABLE LIQUIDS.
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does Ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 1417 of the Ordinance Code of the City of Burlin-
game is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 1417. GENERAL STORAGE
All Class 1, 2, and 3 liquids shall be stored at least
two (2) feet from any building, except that when the top of the
tank is above the lowest floor, basement, or cellar it shall be
located in accordance with the following table:

550 gallons, or less..............3 feet out
2,000 gallons, or less.............10 feet out
5,000 gallons, or less.............20 feet out
Tanks shall be constructed in accordance with Sections
1405 to 1412, both inclusive. No one tank shall contain more than
two thousand five hundred (21500) gallons except as hereinafter
provided. Not more than five (5) tanks of Class 1, 2, and 3-A
liquids aggregating twelve thousand five hundred (12,500) gallons
shall be stored for any one public garage, service station, dye h
works or clothes cleaning establishment; provided, the City Council
may, upon the application for a permit therefor, and with the
recommendation of the Chief of the Fire Department, grant permiss-
ion to store and keep Class 10 2, and 3-A liquids in excess of the
limitation hereinbefore specified in tanks having a capacity not
greater than twenty-five hundred (20500) gallons each, if such
additional Class 1, 2, and 3-A liquids are deemed necessary by the h'
Chief of the Fire Department, and provided, all of the other re-
quirements and regulations of this Code are fully performed and
effectively carried out.
Not more than one tank of two hundred and eighty (280)
gallons capacity shall be allowed as storage for any private garage4
Said tank shall be installed only with the consent of the Fire of
Chief, except that where any private garage is used by any person,
firm or corporation engaged in a commercial enterprise where the
use of gasoline is necessary in such enterprise, storage -tanks of
more than two hundred and eighty (280) gallons capacity shall be
allowed, but not exceeding five hundred and fifty (550) gallons
capacity. 1
Where two or more tanks are installed they shall be separ-
ated by three (3) feet of earth or twelve (12) inches of brick or
concrete.
No tank shall be connected to another so that gasoline can
flow from one to the other.
One storage tank only may, with the consent of the Fire
Chief, be installed for a private garage on private property. S
tank shall be at least two (2) feet from any building or structure
or part thereof and be covered with at least two (2) feet of earth.
SECTION 2.
All Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall be published once as required by law.
