HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0571G ORDINANCE NO. 571 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AND ARTICLE 55 THEREOF DEALING WITH BUILDING CONSTRUCTION BY PLACING RESTRICTIONS UPON THE CONSTRUCTION AND USE OF METAL BUILDINGS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as follows: SECTION I. Section 2400 of the Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is hereby amended by adding thereto a Subsection "d" providing and reading as follows: " (d) Section 1602 (b) of the Uniform Building Code shall read as follows: +(b) Limitation of Types of Construction. Floors over usable spaces, and all walls, partitions, and columns shall be of not less than one-hour fire -resistive con- struction or as permitted in Chapter 19 for Type II construction. Exterior walls within twenty feet (20+) of adjacent property lines shall be of not less than four-hour fire -resistive construction. EXCEPTIONS: 1. One-story Type IV buildings, if of incombustible construction throughout, and not more than twenty-five hundred square feet (2500 sq. ft.) in area, need not be fire protected provided they are located twenty feet (201) or more from adjacent property lines and provided further that they are constructed or used only as a gasoline service station or similar dispensing station. 2. Walls fronting on a street having a width of at least fifty feet (501) may be of in- combustible construction with structural members fire protected as required in Part V.1" SECTION II. Section 2400 of the Ordinance Code of the City of 3urlingame is hereby amended further by adding thereto a Subsection 'e" providing and reading as follows: " (e) Section 2101 of the Uniform Building Code shall read as follows: t Section 2101. In Type IV buildings the structural framework shall be of steel, iron, masonry or concrete. Exterior walls shall be of any incombustible materials except metal; provided that the use of metal for exter- ior wall covering shall be permissible in the construc- tion or use of a gasoline service station or similar dispensing station. Partitions, floors and roof con- struction shall be of incombustible materials except as specified in this Chapter. Foundations shall be of masonry or concrete."' ECTION III.
