HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0567ORDINANCE $6i, 567 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME; CREATING A PARK COMMISSION; AND PROVIDING FOR ITS ORGANIZATION, TERMS OF ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, POWERS AND DUTIES. The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as follows: SECTION 1 - The Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Division to be designa- ted Division 7 of Articlw 6 of Part II of said Code and to be entitled "Park Commission," which shall read and provide as follows: DIVISION 7 PARK COMMISSION SECTION 650 - ORGANIZA.TION; TERMS OF MEMBERS. There shall be a Park Commission in the City consisting of five members, appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation of the City Council; the members thereof shall be qualified electors of the City, and their term of office shall be for a period of three years and until their successors are appointed and qualified. The terms of the first members of the Park Commission shall be determined. by lot so that the term of one member shall be for one year, of two members for two years and of two members for three years, all commencing at the first meeting of the Commission after the effective date of this Ordinance and after the Commission is fully constituted. The members shall serve without compensation, but all necessary expenses shall be paid by appropriate Council action. SECTION 651 - DUTIES. The duties of the Park Commission shall be those of an advisory committee to the City Council on all matters pertaining to the development, ornamentation and beautifi- cation of the streets, highways, roads, avenues and parks of this City. - 1 - SECTION 652 -RULES, MEETINGS. The Commission shall hold regular meetings at least once a month and such other meet- ings as may be necessary or expedient. A majority of the Com- mission shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting the business of the Commission. The Commission shall elect a chairman and secretary, both of whom shall serve at the pleasure of the Commission. The secretary may appoint an assistant who shall not be a member of the Commission. The secretary shall keep a record of all proceedings, resolutions, findings and transactions of the Commission for public inspection and shall furnish a copy thereof to the City Clerk for the City Council. SECTION 2 - All parts of the Ordinance Code in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3_ - This Ordinance shall be published once as required by law. H. KENT ATWATER 74AYOR I, Herbert K.
