HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0565ORDINANCE NO. 565 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME BY REPEALING SECTION 928 THEREOF AS AMENDED, PROVIDING FOR THE DUE DATE AND NOTICE OF THE PAYMENT OF TAXES; AND ORDAIN- ING A NEW SECTION 928 PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF TAXES AND GIIING NOTICE OF DUE DATES AND DELINQUENT DATES FOR THE PAY14ENT THEREOF. The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as follows: SECTION 1 - Section 928 of the Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is hereby repealed. SECTION 2 - The Ordinance Code of the City of Burlin- game is hereby amended by adding a new Section 928 which shall provide and read as follows: SECTION 928 - DUE DATES OF PAYMENT OF TAXES AND NOTICE THEREOF: Half the taxes on real and personal property on the secured roll are due on November lst, and if the amount is not evenly divisible by two, the off cent is also due, unless the roll shows an odd cent as part of the second installment. The second half of the taxes on real and personal pro- perty taxes on the secured roll is due on February lst. The entire tax on the secured roll may be paid when the first half is due. The second half may be paid separately only if the first half has been paid. All taxes due November lst, if unpaid, are delinquent December 10th at 5:00 o'clock p.m., and thereafter a delinquent penalty of 8 percent attaches to them, and if not paid before April 10th next, an additional 3 percent will be added thereto. The second half of taxes on the secured roll, if unpaid, is delinquent April 10th at 5:00 o'clock p.m., and thereafter a delinquent penalty of 3 percent attaches to it. Within 10 days after the receipt of the assessment roll, the tax collector must publish a notice in some newspaper publish ed in the City, or if none is published therein, he shall post - 1 - the same in 3 public places in said City, specifying: 1. That half the taxes on real and personal property on the secured roll are due November 1st, and will be delinquent December 10th next at 5:00 ofclock p.m., and unless paid prior thereto, 8 percent will be added to the amount thereof, and that if the second half be not paid before the 10th day of April next at 5:00 o'clock p.m., an additional 3 percent will be added thereto; that the remaining one-half of the taxes on real and personal property on the secured roll are due on or after February 1st next thereafter and will be delinquent on the 10th day of April next thereafter at 5:00 o'clock p.m., and that unless paid prior thereto, 3 percent will be added to the amount thereof. 2. That all taxes may be paid at the time the first installment as herein provided is due and payable. be made. 3.
