AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME CERTAIN PROPERTY KNOWN AS
THE SCOFIELD PROPERTY
WHEREAS, Frank A. Scofield and Mildred M. Scofield, his
wife, the owners of the property hereinafter described, filed
with the City Clerk of the City of Burlingame, a petition re-
questing the annexation to the city of the said property, it
being contiguous to the city, and agreeing that upon the annexa-
tion thereof, the said property shall be proportionately subject
to all of the existing bonded indebtedness of the city outstanding
at the date of said annexation and in the indebtedness authorized
and represented by the bonds now issued, and that the said prop-
erty shall enjoy all of the privileges and benefits of said city;
and
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of November, 1953, the city
council of the City of Burlingame adopted Resolution No, 84-53
fixing December 21, 1953, at eight o'clock, p.m., in the Council
Chambers of the City Hall of said city, as the time and place
when and where any person interested in the proposed annexation
may appear and show cause if any they have, why .such property
should not be annexed; and
WHEREAS, the Said Resolution No. 84-53 was published in
the Btrjingame-Star, a newspaper of general circulation published
in the city and also in the Redwood City Tribune, a newspaper of
general circulation published outside of the city but in the
county, in which is located the property proposed to be annexed,
and the said notice was published twice and was completed twenty
days prior to the date set for the hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Burlingame also
caused written notice of the proposed annexation to be mailed to
:ach person to whom land within the territory proposed to be
annexed, is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll
available on the date the proceedings were initiated, at the
address shown on said assessment roll or as known tos aid clerk,
and to any person who has filed his name and address and the
designation of the lands in which he has any interest, either
legal or equitable, with said clerk; and
WHEREAS, at the time and place fixed for the hearing,
to -wit: December 21, 1953, no person appeared and objected to
said annexation;
NOW, THEHREFORE, the City Council of the City of Burlingame
does ordain as follows:
Section 1. That the hereinafter described real property
is unincorporated and contiguous to the corporate limits of the
City of Burlingame.
Section 2. That said territory as hereinafter described
and commonly known as the "Scofield Property" is hereby annexed
and shall hereafter be a part of. the City of Burlingame, a
municipal corporation and shall enjoy all of the privileges and
benefits existing at the date hereof, and proportionately be
subject to all of the existing bonded indebtedness of the City
outstanding at the date hereof and in the indebtedness authorized
and represented by bonds now issued.
Section 3. The annexation of said property is hereby
approved; the City Clerk shall submit under the seal of the city
to the Secretary of State of the State of California, a certified
copy of this ordinanee,._giwingitheddhte of its passage and upon
and after the filing of said document in the Office of the
Secretary of State the annexation of the above described territor
shall be complete and thenceforth shall be according to all
intents,and purposes a part of the City of Burlingame.
Section 4. The exterior boundaries of the area hereby
annexed are particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the northerly right -
o£ -way line of Hillside Drive, said point
being the most westerly corner of Lot No. 7,
Block No. 1, as shown on said Plap of Burlin-
game Hils No. 2; thence from said point of
beginning N 190 571 E 141.00 feet along the
westerly boundary of said Lot No. 7; thence
N 65° 09' 50" West 119.63 feet, s aid course
being partially contiguous to the corporate
limit line of the City of Burlingame; thence
continuing along last said corporate limit
line of City of Burlingame the following
courses and distances; S 860 37' 30"
W 66.39 feet, S 180 04l E 79.00 feet and S
20 08v 08& W 80.87 feet to a point in the
abovementioned northerly line of Hillside
Drive; thence leaving lasts aid corporate
limit line of City of Burlingame, on a curve
to the right in an easterly direction along
the abovementioned northerly line of Hillside
Drive, said curve having a radius of 397.50
feet, a central angle of 15° 51' 20" and an
are length of 110.00 feet to the point of be-
ginning, and containing 0.479 acres of land,
more or less. Being all of Lot 8, Block 1,
Burlingame Hills Subdivision No. 2, as re-
corded August 26, 1926, in Volume 14, pages
18 and 19, of flaps of the County of San Mateo
records, State of California.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be published once as
required by law.

foregoinS ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the
City Council held on the 21st day of December, 1953, and adopted
at a regular meeting held on the 4th day of January, 195_4, by
the following vote:
