AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE
CITY OF BURLINGAME; CREATING A COMMISSION OF PUBLIC
HEALTH AND SAFETY; AND PROVIDING FOR ORGANIZATION,
TERMS OF ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, POWERS AND DUTIES.
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: The Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is
hereby ami by adding thereto a new Division to be designated
Division 8 of Article 6 of Part II of said Code and to be entitl-
ed "Commission of Public Health and Safety", which shall read and
provide as follows:
"DIVISION 8"
"COMMISSION OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY"
"SECTION 660 - ORGANIZATION; TERMS OF MEMBERS. There shall
be a Commisslon of Public Health and Safety in the City consist-
ing of seven members, appointed by the Mayor, subject to confir-
mation of the City Council; the members thereof shall be qualified
electors of the City, and their term of office shall be for a
period of three years and until their successors are appointed and
qualified. The terms of the first members of the Commission of
Public Health and Safety shall be determined by lot so that the
term of two members shall be for one year, of two members for two
years and of three members for three years, all commencing at the
first meeting of the Commission after the effective date of this
Ordinance and after the Commission is fully constituted. The
members shall serve without compensation but all necessary expens-
es shall be paid by appropriate Council action.
"SECTION 661 - DUTIES. The duties of the Commission of
Public-EFFITE-ZE7 Safety shall be those of an advisory committee
to the City Council on all matters pertaining to the health and
safety of all residents of the City and of all persons lawfully
therein.
"SECTION 662 - RULES, MEETINGS. The Commission shall hold
regular mee ngs at least once a month and such other meetings as
may be necessary or expedient. A majority of the Commission shall
constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting the business of
the Commission. The Commission shall elect a Chairman and Secre-
tary, both of whom shall serve at the pleasure of the Commission.
"The Secretary may appoint an assistant who shall not be a
member of the Commission. The Secretary shall keep a record of
all proceedings, resolutions, findings and transactions of the
Commission for public inspection and shall furnish a copy thereof
to the City Clerk for the City Council."
SECTION 2: All parts of the. Ordinance Code in conflict here-
th are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be published once as
quireed by—law.

foregoing ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting held by
the City Council, on the 16th day of May, 1955, and adopted
thereafter at a regular meeting held on the 6th day of June, 1955,
