AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE
OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME BY ADDING THERETO
A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 1221-B LIMITING THE
SPEED OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON CALIFORNIA
DRIVE BETWEEN DUFFERIN AVENUE AND IURCHISON
DRIVE SO AS NOT TO EXCEED 35 MILES PER HOUR.
WHEREAS, an engineering and traffic survey had pursuant to
law reveals and determines that the prima facie speed limit of 55
miles per hour for vehicular traffic is more than is reasonable or
safe for driving on California Drive between Dufferin Avenue and
Murchison Drive;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Burlingame
Idoes ordain as follows:
SECTION to The Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is
hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 1221-B which shall
provide and read as follows:
"SECTION 1221-B. No person shall drive a vehicle upon Cal-
ifornia Drive between Dufferin Avenue and Murchison Drive at a
speed greater than 35 miles per hour; it being hereby declared and
(determined that the speed limitation hereby established is most
appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is
reasonable and safe.
"The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to
procure appropriate signs giving notice hereof and to erect sever
such signs on California Drive between Dufferin Avenue and Murch-
ison Drive and this Ordinance shall be effective when such signs
are erected."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be published once as
required by law.

the foregoing ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council 'held on the 4th day of April, 1955, and adopted
on the 18th day of April, 1955, by the following vote:
