AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1429.7 OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF
THE CITY OF BURLINGAME PROHIBITING THE DISPENSING OF INFLAM-
MABLE LIQUIDS TO THE PUBLIC BY UNATTENDED DISPENSING DEVICES
IN THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain
as follows
SECTION 1. Section 1429.7 of the Ordinance Code of the
City of Burlingame is hereby amended to read and provide as foll
"Section 1429.7
For the purpose of this provision 'inflammable
liqui.dst include all liquids with flash point below
110 degrees Fahrenheit as determined in a "Saybolt
Electric Open Cup Tester" and all liquids which emit
a flammable vapor and with flash point at or above
110 degrees Fahrenheit, as determined in a "Saybolt
Electric Open Cup Tester." Inflammable liquids as
defined in this section shall be delivered and dis-
pensed from dispensing devices only by the operators
of such device, their employees or authorized repre-
sentatives ; and, when unattended, all pumps and
other facilities for the delivery of inflammable
liquids, shall be locked or other effective provisions
made to prevent public access to supplies of such
inflammable liquids.
This section shall not be construed to prohibit
the installation or use of any nozzle attached to or
a part of any such dispensing device when any such
nozzle has been approved by Underwriters" Laboratories,
Inc., provided, however, that no such nozzle shall
be attached to or made a part of any such dispensing
device without a written permit from the Chief of the
Fire. Department. The Chief of the Fire Department
shall prepare and maintain a list of all nozzles which
have been approved by Underwriterst' Laboratories, Inc.
for attachment to any device for dispensing inflammable
liquids, which list shall be kept on file in the office
of the Chief of the Fire Department and shall be
available for public reference during regular office
hours."
SECTION 2. If any section, subsection, clause, phrase,
or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of this
City hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance
and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion
thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections,
subsections, clauses, phrases, or portions may be declared in-
valid or unconstitutional.

the foregoing ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on the 3rd day of March , 1958,
and adopted thereafter at a regular meeting of the City Council
held on the 17th day of March , 1958, by the follow-
ing vote:
