AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1708 OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME BY REVISING FEES CHARGED FOR WATER SERVICE INSTALLATIONS
The City Council of the City of Burlingame, California, does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1708 of the Ordinance Code of the City of
Burlingame is hereby amended to read and provide as follows:
"Section 1708. Water Service Installations
As used in this section, certain terms are defined as follows:
a. A 'short service' water service installation is a water sery ice
installation on that side of the street nearest to the existing water main.
b. A 'long service' water service installation is a water service
installation on the side of the street furthest from the existing water main.
c. Water service installations from water mains located elsewhere
than in a public street shall be deemed to be 'short service' water service
installations for the purpose of this section.
All water service installations of sizes 3/4 inches to 2 inches
inclusive, consisting of corporation and curb cocks, service line, and meter
boxes shall be furnished and installed by the City of Burlingame from the
water main to a point approximately one foot inside of the curb line for the
following fixed fees:
3/4" Short Service.......... ...... **$ 55.00

All water service installations of a size larger than 2 inches will be
furnished and installed by the City of Burlingame for the cost of labor and
material plus a sum equal to ten per cent (10%) of the combined cost of labor
and material. The sum to be paid for any such installation shall be estimated
by the City Engineer and such sum shall be deposited with the Director of

Public Works before the work of installation shall commence. In the event that!
the estimated cost for making the installation shall prove to be insufficient
to pay for said installation as hereinabove provided, an additional sum suf—
ficient to pay such costs shall be charged. If the amount deposited shall
excmd the cost of installation as hereinabove provided, the excess shall be
refunded.
The cost of the water meter shall be excluded in estimating or comput—
ing the cost of installation for the purposes of this section.
The ownership of the water service installation, including the water
meter, shall be vested in the City of Burlingame.
Any person may make a water service installation, excluding the water
meter, at his own cost and expense provided that such installation is made by
him under the direction and supervision and subject to the inspection of the
Director of Public Works."
sECTION 2. This ordimnce shall be published once as required by law.

ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the
18th day of July , 1960, and adopted thereafter at a
regular meeting of the City Council held on the 3st_ day of
August , 1960, by the following vote:
