ADDING SECTION 1867 TO ARTICLE 49A OF THE BURLINGAME ORDINANCE CODE
AUTHORIZING AND REGULATING DIRECTIONAL SIGNS IN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as follows;
SECTION 1, Section 1867 is hereby added to Article 49A of the Ordinance
Code of the City of Burlingame, and shall read and provide as follows:
"Section 1867. Directional Sions
(a) A directional sign is defined to be a sign designed and erected to
inform the public of the location of a place, structure or use situated within
the city.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, construct or install a
directional sign within the City of Burlingame without first obtaining a permit
to do so issued by the Planning Commission, Such permit shall be in addition
to the permit required by Section 1851.
(c) Applications for a permit to erect, construct, or install a dir
al sign shall be made upon blanks to be approved and provided by the Planning
Commission and shall furnish such information as the Planning Commission may
direct or require.
(d) The Planning Commission is authorized to issue permits for the erectioh,
construction or installation of directional signs when it finds that such signs
will serve the public convenience or necessity.
(e) No permit shall be issued for the erection, construction or installa—
tion of a directional sign within any district other than an industrial district)
as the term "industrial district" is defined or employed in Article 50 of the

Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame.
(f) Directional signs shall be erected, constructed, installed and maintain—
ed in compliance with the safety requirements of Article 49A of the Ordinance
Code of the City of Burlingame.
(g) No permit shall be issued for the erection, construction or installa—
tion of a directional sign which the Planning Commission finds to be either
higher or larger than is necessary for the purpose for which it is proposed to
be constructed, erected or installed."

SECTION 2.. This ordinance shall be published ,as required by law.
