HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 0758ORDINAiI^.E NO. 758 Ail ORDINANCE ADDING ARTICLE 9A TO PARI' III OF ITiTE' LURLINGAME DRDI:IANCE CODE AND PROVIDI:•IG FOR TIIE TRANSFER OF TETE ASSES3N.7�NT A':dD TAX COLLECTION DUTIES OF THE CITY ASSESSOR AND CITY TALC COLLECTOR TO THE ASSESSOR AND TO THE TAX COLLECTOR OF TLE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND REP BALING ALL PROVISIO2F3 OF AF E ORDNANCE CODE IN -CONFLICT TI'EREWITIf WEREAS, the City of Burlingame, a municipal corporation, desires to transfer the assessment and tax collection duties per- formed by the City Assessor and City Tax Collector to the Assessor and Tax Collector of the County of San Mateo pursuant to Sections 51500 to 51519 of the Government Code; The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame is hereby amended by adding Article 9A to Part III which shall read as follows: "Article 9A "PROVIDING FOR THE TRANSFER OF THE ASSESSMENT AND TAX COLLECTION DUTIES OF THE CITY ASSESSOR AND CITY TAX COLLECTOR TO 114E ASSESSOR AND TO THE TAX COLLECTOR OF THE COUNTY OF SA11 MATEO "Section 951.1 DEFINITIONS: The following words and expres- sions when used in this Article shall for the purpose of this Article have the meanings respectively ascribed to them as follows: a. City: The word "City" as used in this Arti<.'-e shall mean the City of Burlingame, a municipal corporation, situated in the County of San Mateo, State of California. b. County: The word "County" as used in this Article shall mean the County of San Mateo, a political sub- division of the State of California. "Section 951.2 TRANSFER OF DUTIES: The assessment and tax collection duties, and the collection of assessments levied for municipal improvements, now performed by the Assessor and the Tax c ;r v"' .he City, are hereby transferred to the ASSesso_: and the Tax Collector of the County for the purpose of assessment and eollection of and for ad valorem property taxes that become a l.i.M after the adoption of this Article, and the collection of assessments for municipal improvements becoming due and payable on and after July 1, 1963. "Section 951.3 ABOLITION OF OFFICES OF CITY ASSESSOR A1,D CITY TAX COLLECTOR: The offices of City Assessor and City Tax Collect -)r are hereby abolished as of the first day of July 1963. Phereafter all duties to be performed by the City Assessor other than the assessing of property in the City are hereby transferred to and are to be performed by the Ci Ly Clerk and all duties perform- ed by the City fax Collector ocher than the collection of ad valore.n taxes on property that become a lien af+'.er the adoption of this Article and the collection of assessments for nunicipal'improvenents becoming due and payable on and after July 1 1963 are hereby transferred to and are to be performed by the City Treasurer." S7,CTIOV 2. riling of Certified Copy: The City Clerk shall cause a certified copy of this Ordinance to be filed with the Auditor of the County on or before the first Monday of February. 1963 and immediately thereafter shall notify the State Board of E utilization. S^CTIODI 3. Repealing: All provisions of the Burlingame Ordinance Code in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. S3CTIIN 4. affective Date: This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after the date of its final passage. SECTIO'•: 5• Publication.
