AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION a. OF SECTION 14+3 OF THE
1941 ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME BY INCREASING
POLICY LIMITS OF MOTOR VEHICLE LIABILITYINSURANCE POLICIES
REQUIRED OF OWNERS OF TAXICABS
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. Subsection a. of Section 1443 of the 191+1 Ordin-
ance Code of the City of Burlingame as added by Ordinance No. 417
adopted December 179 1945, is hereby amended to read and provide
as follows:
"Section 1443 - PUBLIC LIABILITY. It shall be unlawful
for any owner or operator to drive or operate a taxicab or cause
the same to be driven or operated in the City of Burlingame, and
no license for the operation thereof shall be granted unless and
until there is on file with the city clerk, and in full force and
effect at all times while such taxicab is being operated, a policy
of insurance approved by the city attorney, with a solvent and
responsible company authorized to do business in the State of
California, insuring the owner of such taxicab (giving the manu-
facture number and state license number) against loss by reason of
injury or damage that may result to persons or property from the
negligent operation or defective condition of such taxicab, or for
any other cause. Said policy may be limited to ten thousand
dollars for the injury or death of one person and twenty thousand
dollars for the injury of two or more persons in the same accident
and five thousand dollars for injury or destruction of property."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once as
required by law.
