AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 1423 THROUGH 1428,
INCLUSIVE; 1760 THROUGH 1766, INCLUSIVE, AND 2300
THROUGH 2322, INCLUSIVE OF THE 1941 ORDINANCE CODE
OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME; ADOPTING BY REFERENCE
THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1962 EDITION, AND
ORDINANCE NO. 1630 OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO;
ESTABLISHING MINIMUM REGULATIONS FOR THE INSTALLA-
TION OR ALTERATIONS OF OR ADDITIONS TO OR REPAIRS
OF ELECTRIC WIRING SYSTEMS AND THE INSPECTION
THEREOF; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION
The City Council of the City of Burlingame does ordain as
follows:
Section 1. Article 54 of the 1941 Ordinance Code of the
City of Burlingame is hereby amended to read as follows:
"ARTICLE 54
ELECTRICAL CODE
Section 2300.01. Adoption of Text of National Electrical
Code and of San Mateo County Ordinance No. 1630.
There is hereby adopted for the purpose of prescribing
regulations safeguarding persons and buildings and their contents
from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat,
power, radio, signalling and for other purposes, that certain code
known as the National Electrical Code (NFPA No. 70), 1962 Edition,
adopted by the National Fire Protection Association at its
annual meeting, May 21-25, 1962, and also Ordinance No. 1630
adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo,
a political subdivision of the State of California, on February 14
1964; and the same are hereby incorporated in this ordinance and
in the 1941 Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame by reference
as fully as if set forth at length herein, and the provisions of
said Ordinance No. 1630 of the County of San Mateo shall be con-
trolling within the limits of the City of Burlingame from and
after the effective date of this Article.

Section 2300.02. Definitions.
(1) "County of San Mateo", t°San Mateo County", or
"County" shall mean "City of Burlingame", "Burlingame City", or
"Cityp1
(2) �PCounty Manager" shall mean "City Manager";
(3) "Board of Supervisors" shall mean "City Council";
(4) "Building Inspection Division" shall mean
"Building Department";
(5) "Superintendent of Building Inspection' shall
mean "Building OfficialB°; and
(6) "Unincorporated Area of the County of San Mateo"
shall mean ''Incorporated Area of the City of
Burlingame.e1
Section 2300.03. Amendment of San Mateo County Electri-
cal Code,
The electrical Code of San Mateo County is amended by
deleting therefrom paragraph (c) of Article 1, and Sections 1
through 12, inclusive, and Section 17(b) of Article 2.
Section 2300.04. Inspections.
Requests for inspections of electrical work done under
a permit required by the San Mateo County Electrical Code shall
be made in writing to the Building Official between the hours of
8:00 and 9:00 A. M., and 1:00 and 2:00 P. M., on the day for whichi
the inspection is requested, and shall include such information
as may be required by the Building Official, including the names
of the owner, general contractor and electrical contractor and
the street address of the location where the inspection is to be

made.
If the Building Official finds that the work done under
permit is not completed or otherwise ready for inspection after

written request therefor, he shall charge an inspection fee of
$5.00 for each re -inspection,

SECTION 2. Repeals.
Sections 1423 through 1428, inclusive, 1760 through
1766 inclusive, and 2300 through 2322, inclusive, of the 1941
Ordinance Code of the City of Burlingame are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. Misdemeanor.
It shall be unlawful for any person to violate any
provision of, or to fail to comply with, any of the requirements
of this Article 54, or any portion which incorporates the Electri-
cal Code of the County of San Mateo, State of California, or the
National Electrical Code (NFPA No. 70), 1962 Edition, into this
code. Any person violating any of the provisions of, or failing
to comply with, any of the mandatory requirements of this article,
or of the Electrical Code of the County of San Mateo, State of
California, as effective February 14, 1964, or of the National
Elecgrical Code (NFPA No. 70), 1962 Edition, shall be guilty of
a misdemeanor. Any person convicted of a misdemeanor under the
provisions of this section shall be punished in accordance with
the provisions of Section 101 of the 1941 Ordinance Code of the
City of Burlingame.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be published as re-
quired by law.

I, Herbert K. White, City Clerk of the City of Burlingame,
do hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance is a full, true,
and correct copy of Ordinance No. 815 , which was introduced on
October 5, 1964; that thereafter a public hearing on said ordi-
nance was scheduled for November 2, 1964, at 8:00 o'clock P.M.
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 267 Park Road, Burlin-
game; that the notice of said hearing was published twice in the
ADVANCE -STAR, a newspaper of general circulation published in the
City of Burlingame, once on October 9 , 1964, and once on
October 16 , 1964, the first publication being at least fifteen

(15) days preceding the hearing; that said notice stated the time
and place of the hearing; that not less than three (3) copies of
the Electrical Code of the County of San Mateo as set forth in
Ordinance No. 1630 adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of San Mateo, a political subdivision of the State of
California, on February 14, 1964 and also of the National Elec-
trical Code (NFPA No. 70), 1962 Edition, all certified to be true
copies by the City Clerk were on file in the office of the City
Clerk and open to public inspection at least fifteen days precedin
the hearing; that said notice contained a description of the pur-
pose and subject matter of the Electrical Code of the County of
San Mateo as set forth in Ordinance No. 1630 adopted by the Board
of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, a political subdivision
of the State of California, on February 14, 1964 and also of the
National Electrical Code (NFPA No. 70), 1962 Edition, that said
hearing was duly held at the time and place stated in the Notice;
and that at the meeting of the City Council held on November 2,
1964, said ordinance was duly adopted by the following vote of
the members thereof.
