A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
REJECTING THE ONLY BID RECEIVED FOR THE EI PORTAL AND TROUSDALE
CHANNELS REHABILITATION PHASE 2 PROJECT, AND SANCHEZ LAGOON FLAP
GATES PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO RE-EVALUATE THE PROJECT
AND RE -ADVERTISE IT TO OBTAIN NEW BIDS
CITY PROJECT NOS. 83230 & 84740
WHEREAS, On April 20, 2017, the Department of Public Works issued a Public Notice
Inviting Sealed Bid Proposals for the EI Portal and Trousdale Channel Rehabilitation Phase 2
Project, and Sanchez Lagoon Flap Gates Project — City Projects Nos. 83230 & 84740; and
WHEREAS, on May 18, 2017, a single bid proposal was received and opened before the
City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, the single bid proposal was for $1,496,500.00; and
WHEREAS, the bid proposal is 57% over the engineer's estimate of $950,000, and will
exceed the available funds budgeted for the projects; and
WHEREAS, staff will conduct value engineering to determine if the scope of work should be
reevaluated or if the projects should be bid separately.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED and ORDERED, that the bid received for above said
projects is rejected; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Burlingame resolves,
determines, and finds as follows:
1. All bonds and security received in connection with the bid received shall be returned to the
bidder.
2. Staff is authorized to modify the plans and specifications for said projects as appropriate,
and re -advertise to seek new bid proposals.

foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 5`" day of
June, 2017, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
