HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - LB - 1983.07.19 BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEE ' S MINUTES JULY 19th , 1983 EJILL TO &RDE R_ Trustees Present : Trustees Nagle , Kriloff and Harvey Trustees Present : President Parsons , excused for vacation ; Secretary Weatherbe excused for an illness in her family . Also Present : Mrs . Joy Molder , Asst . City Librarian Mrs . Judy Gladysz , Library Secretary BILLS : City checks in the amount of $ 13 ,889 . 58 for the 1982- 1983 fiscal year were approved to be paid on a motion made by Trustee Harvey , seconded by Trustee Kriloff and carried . City checks in the amount of $20 , 189 . 19 for the 1983- 1984 fiscal year were approved to be paid on a motion made by Trustee Harvey , seconded by Trustee Kriloff and carried . Special Fund checks in the amount of $ 1 , 163 . 37 were approved to be paid on a motion made by Trustee Kriloff , seconded by Trustee Harvey and carried . INTRODUCTION OF TWO NEW REFERENCE LIBRARIANS : Mrs . Bergsing introduced the two new Reference Librarians to the Board members that were present . She first introduced Penny Johnson , full -time Librarian who replaces Warren Wickliffe , and then Betty Stout , part-time Librarian who replaced Sue Reiterman . She told a little about their back- grounds . The Board members welcomed them both . MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JUNE 21st , 1983 : The minutes of the Board meeting of June 21st ; 1983 were approved as written and ordered filed . CORRESPONDENCE : None LIBRARIAN ' S REPORT: Librarian Bergsing reported that the Architect is proceeding as planned on the estimates for the Duncan patio and that the work should be out for bid by the end of July . i Page 2 Librarian Bergsing said that the new carpet for the Circulation area is due to be installed on Saturday night . Mrs . Molder reported that she is very pleased with -� the number of applicants that she has interviewed for the Automated Circulation conversion project . She feels very optimistic about the whole procedure . She said that Trustee Kriloff had come in for his demonstration , and he stated that he was very impressed . Mrs . Bergsing said the Hillsborough Agreement had been signed and accepted . Trustee Nagle noticed that there was a decrease in Circulation at the Branch . The first decrease in 4 months . He did , however , state that his children were on vacation and upon their return the Branch statistics should increase . Librarian Bergsing said that the Principal from Burlingame High School had come in to see her regarding her letter . He explained there had been some misunderstanding regarding the priorities of the school faculty . He said how- ever , they were not going to be able to hire a Librarian this school year. He explained that part of the problem was in finding a person with the right credentials for the job . Mrs . Bergsing said the meeting was very worthwhile and it was very nice of him to come over. She is looking forward to closer cooperation in the future . UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Discussed in conjunction with the Librarian ' s Report . NEW BUSINESS : None ADJOURNMENT: The meeting of July 19th , 1983 was adjourned at 5 : 15pm with the next meeting set for August 16th , 1983 at 4 :30pm in the California Room .
