City Council and Library Board of Trustees joint meeting • Some of the great things the Library is doing • How the Library is positioning themselves for the future – growing and changing • The Library’s role in the community • Book budget for next year and future years 1. CALL TO ORDER – 7:00 p.m. – Council Chambers 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 3. ROLL CALL 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Regular Council Meeting of March 7, 2011 5. PRESENTATIONS a. Corporals and Canines badge pinning ceremony b. Presentation by Charlotte Dickson on Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) 6. PUBLIC HEARING a. Appeal of the Planning Commission’s approval of an application for design review for a new, two-story single family dwelling and detached garage on property at 704 Newhall Road, located within a single family residential (R1) zone 2 Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the City Council regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection at the Water Office Counter at City Hall located at 501 Primrose Road during normal business hours. 7. PUBLIC COMMENTS – At this time, persons in the audience may speak on any item on the agenda or any other matter within the jurisdiction of the Council. The Ralph M. Brown Act (the State local agency open meeting law) prohibits Council from acting on any matter that is not on the agenda. Speakers are requested to fill out a “request to speak” card located on the table by the door and hand it to staff. The Mayor may limit speakers to three minutes each. 8. STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS a. Consider authorizing the Mayor to sign a letter, on behalf of the City Council, urging United States Senate support of the Clean Air Act and the Environmental Protection Agency’s enforcement authority b. Discuss Healthy Eating Active Living suggestions and direct staff accordingly 9. COUNCIL COMMITTEE AND ACTIVITIES REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Council Members report on committees and activities and make announcements. 10. Approve out-of-state travel for Finance Director/Treasurer b. Adopt a Resolution accepting the construction contract for the Citywide Neighborhood Storm Drainage Improvements Project No. 1 c. Adopt a Resolution authorizing emergency work for the Alcazar and Donnelly Tank Coating Project d. Adopt a Resolution approving closure of Burlingame Avenue between California Drive and El Camino Real and portions of Lorton Avenue, Primrose Road and Park Road for the 2011 Burlingame Avenue Arzfest event on August 13 & 14, 2011 12. OLD BUSINESS a. Business License Tax information – Distribution of tax payers by number of employees 13. NEW BUSINESS 14. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS a.
