Board of Trustees
Minutes
September 30th, 1997
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting of September 30th, 1997 was called to order by President
Berger at 4:40 pm.
2. ROLL CALL:
Trustees Present: Berger, Cannon & Dunbar
Trustees Absent: Morton & Herman
Staff Present: Alfred Escoffier, City Librarian
Judy Gladysz, Administrative Secretary
3. BILLS:
M/S/C (Dunbar/Cannon) unanimously to approve the bills as presented.
4. MINUTES:
The Minutes of the Meeting of August 26th, 1997 were approved as written
and ordered filed.
5. CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATIONS:
All correspondence was mailed in the Trustee packets. There was some
discussion.
6. REPORTS:
a. City Librarian's Report:
Librarian Escoffier said the move went smoothly and if all goes well he is
planning a "soft opening" on Thursday and Friday with the Dedication following
on Saturday and open house on Sunday. President Berger asked about the Library's
Website.
The Trustees asked about the Retirement Party for Marilyn Morrison. Mr.
Escoffier said it was very nice and Marilyn was pleased with the event.

b Foundation Report / Cannon
Trustee Cannon said the Gala Event went very well with almost 300 people
in attendance. She said the next Foundation Board meeting will be held on October
9th.
c Employee Achievement Awards:
President Berger said he would be extending the deadline for the Employee
Achievement Award nominees because he had only received two. He extended the
date to October 17th with the general staff meeting to be held on October 30th.
7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
a Interim Internet Policy:
Tabled until there is a full Board present. President Berger said he would
allow extra time at the October Board meeting to discuss the Internet issue.
8. NEW BUSINESS:
a Dedication Program Details:
Mr. Escoffier said he would like the Board members to arrive for the
Dedication by 10:45 on October 4th. He said there would be seating provided for
them on the Library Porch along with City Council and the Foundation Board.
Trustee Cannon said there would be a lunch immediately following the Dedication
Ceremony sponsored by the Library Board for the State Librarian and Board of
Trustees. M/S/C (Dunbar/Berger) unanimously to appropriate funds from the
Trustees Fund to pay for the lunch.
9. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting of September 30th, 1997 was adjourned at 5:20 pm. The next
regular Board meeting will be held on October 21st, 1997 in the Board Room.
