BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 20TH, 1988
CALL TO ORDER:
A duly noticed regular meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board
of Trustees was held on the above date in the California Room of the
Burlingame Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 4 : 30pm by
President Cannon.
Trustees Present: CANNON, ROBERTSON, BLEVINS, MINK, BACIGALUPI
Trustees Absent: NONE
Staff Present: MRS. PATRICIA BERGSING, CITY LIBRARIAN
MR. ALFRED H. ESCOFFIER, ASST. CITY LIBRRIAN
MRS. JUDY GLADYSZ, LIBRARY SECRETARY
BILLS:
M/S/C (Blevins/Mink) unanimously to approve the payment of City
checks in the amount of $21 , 526 . 88 and payment of the Trustees Special
Fund in the amount of $4, 329 . 46 .
MINUTES:
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 17th, 1988 were approved as
written and ordered filed.
CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATIONS:
a. Library Annual Report 1987-1988 - Mailed in packet
b. Flyer on Andrew Wyeth - "Helga Pictures" Program - Mailed
c . Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale - Mailed in packet
d. Spectacles - Mailed in packets
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
REPORTS•
City Librarian: New Redwood City Library: Mrs. Bergsing distributed the
floor plan of the new library. Some discussion followed regarding a
possible tour of the Redwood City Library. Mrs. Bergsing said she would
get in touch with the Library Director, Jane Light, to see when would be a
convenient time to schedule such a tour. She will get back to the Board
members .
Collection Management: Librarian Bergsing distributed a report that
Mr. Escoffier had compiled on circulation of different areas of the
collection during the past fiscal year.
Geac: Patti reported that PLAN was currently negotiating a new
contract for the Geac 9000 .
There was some discussion regarding the continued closure of Shasta
County libraries.

NEW BUSINESS:
a. Holiday Schedule - 1989 : After reviewing the proposed holiday
schedule for 1989, M/S/C (Mink/Robertson) unanimously to accept it as
presented.
b. C.L.A. Conference: Trustee Robertson said she has decided she will
probably attend the C.L.A. Conference that will be held in Fresno in
November.
C. Date of November Board Meeting: M/S/C (Robertson/Bacigalupi)
unanimously to change the date of the November Board meeting to
November 22nd.
d. Proposition 85 on the November Ballot: Mrs. Bergsing announced that
there is a P.L.S. fund raiser at the home of Jane Tepperman on October
6th for anyone wishing to support Proposition 85 .
Trustee Mink commended the gardening staff . She said the lawn in front
of the Library looks like there ' s a water shortage however the bushes are
trimmed and look nice.
Librarian Bergsing said the City Manager is expecting to receive the
parking structure working drawings back by the end of September. The job
should go out to bid in the late fall and construction should begin next
spring, (February or March) if everythingF goes according to schedule.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting of September 20th, 1988 was adjourned at 5 : 05pm with the
next meeting scheduled for October 18th in the California Room.
