June 19th, 1990

The meeting of June 19th, 1990 was called to order by Secretary
Robertson at 4:30pm, President Bacigalupi arrived at 4:35pm and presided
over the meeting.
Trustees Present: Bacigalupi, Blevins, Robertson, Cannon & Taylor
Trustees Absent: None
Staff Present: Mrs. Patricia Bergsing, City Librarian
Mrs. Judy Gladysz, Library Secretary
Mr. Alfred Escoffier, Assistant City Librarian

M/S/C (Blevins/Taylor) unanimously to approve the payment of City
checks in the amount of$66,243.71.
Minutes of the Meetina May 15th, 1990:
Minutes of the meeting of May 15th, 1990 were approved as written and
ordered filed after there was a correction made regarding Trustee Cannon
under Correspondence and Communication. The sentence is to read:
Letter from Gladys Church complimenting staff member Hilde Rooth for
outstanding service was read by acting "Secretary" Trustee Cannon.

Librarian's Report: Trustee Taylor asked about the current status on
the Hillsborough Contract. Mrs. Bergsing gave an explanation of the
courses of events over the past few years. There was brief discussion that
followed.
Mr. Escoffier explained about a workshop he and Michael Hubbell had
attended about the hungry and the homeless. Some discussion followed.
Mrs. Bergsing reported that the budget had been approved at the
Council meeting and that the filing period for applications for prospective
new Board members had been extended to June 30th.

Space Needs Assessment Study: The Board members were sent the
Study from Mr. Waters in their packets and had had time to read it
through. There was some discussion about various items within the Study.
There was further discussion about the Duncan Property.
There was a motion made by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee
Robertson, and carried unanimously, to send the Study to City Council as
the Board feels the Council should be informed.
Mrs. Bergsing shared a "Survey" that is going to appear in the Rec
Program in August that will be mailed to all residents in Burlingame. After
some discussion, Trustee Robertson made a motion that the Library
portion of the survey be removed before it is distributed to the public. The
motion was seconded by Trustee Cannon and carried unanimously.

Trustee Blevins said if she's not reappointed to the Board for another
term she would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for being
able to serve on the Board and that she has enjoyed being a part of it.

The meeting of June 19th, 1990, was adjourned at 5:35pm with the next
meeting scheduled for July 21st, 1990 at 4:30pm in the California Room.
