added to the motion dealing with revision to the City parking require-

CURRETiT BUSINESS
1. The subject of the request for the four-ruay Stop sign installation
at Barriolhet and Cypress Avenues was ccnsider:ed first on the agenda
to recognize the presence of four residents of that area. The Traffic
Engineer discussed the acciCent history of the intersection" IIe statei
that he did not believe the intersection would satisfy the Starte recom-
mended warrants, and recommended against the j-nstallation.

following resolutiorr: Essentially we do not propose any support of
the changes reeommencied in Mrs. Picton's letter of May 5, 1979, dt
this time. Seconded by Commissioner Aliamus, the vote followed:
Ayes: Commissioners Aliarnus, Subbotin, Graham.
Noes: Fehlhaber, Foley, Kreling.
Commissioner Kreling reconunenc'led that, thc City of Burlingame install
a Stop sign on the northerly side of Barriolhet at Cypress Avenue fcr
control of westbound traffic, and inform the City of San }lateo for
possible coordination. Seconded by Commissioner Aliamus, the vote
f ollorved: Ayes: Commissioners AIiamus, Fehlhaber, Foley, Kreli.ng.
Noes: Commissioners Graham, Subbotin-
2. The Encore Theatre plan was discussed next, due to the presence
of two interested parties. After general discussion, Commissioner
!-o1ey moved that the Cominission endorse the project, with the reguire-
ment that temporary pedestrian barriers be .olaced along the easterly
side of California Drive during perfonnances. Commissioner Aliamus
seconded. Unanimous affirrrlative vote. Chairman Graham requesteo the
record contain that there was concern about the liability in an
unstriped and unimproved Iot.
3. A discussion of the requested diagonal parking along the we.sterly
side of l,lagnolia Avenue and the easterly side of the front.age road
adjacent to the Burlingame Plaza revealed that there r.rould be Little
or no increase in the nunrber of parking stalls, according to the Traffic
Engineer. Comnrissioner Subbotin moved tirat the diagonal parlting not be
recommencied. Seconded by Commissioner Fo1ey, thg vote followed:
Ayes: Conmissioners A1iamus, Fo1ey, Graham, Kreling, Subbotin.
Noes: Corrunissioners None.
Abstain: Commissioner Fehlhaber.
There was discussion of the requested two-hour parking limit on tire
westerly side of Magnolia Avenue betvzeen Plaza Lane and Trousdale Drive.
Commissioner Subbotin moved that the Comnission endorse the proposal.
Seconded by Cornmissioner Iro1ey, the motion carried unanimously.
There was discussion of the request to change the parking limit on
the easterly frontage road in the 1800 block of EI Camino ReaI from
four hours to two hours. Commissioner Foley movc.d that the Con'unission
endorse the change. Seconded by Commissioner Kreling. I'he rnotion
carried unanimously.
A disctrssion of the .staff recommenciation to install arterial Stop
sigrrs on Llighway Road at Cambridge Road followed. It was suggested

that study shoulcl be made of the feasibility of closing Cambtldge/
Oxford Roacl. Cornmissioncr Fehlhaber moved that interim Stop signs
be instalted on Highway Road. Secondecl by Commissioner Kreling, the
motion carried unanj:rrous1y-
5. A discussion was conducted regarding a handicapped resident's
problem at tI17 Chu1a Vista. Staff v.,as instructed to provide
interim measures to alleviate the condition'
It was requested thclt the remaining agenda items be carried over
urrtil the next Commission rneeting.
