Commission approved as 4.2 Discussion Items. 4.2.1- Removal of Ye1low Zone - Installati_on ofMeters - 34O Lorton Avenue 5. INACTIVE ITEMS. 6. NEW BUSINESS. 6. t_ Two Parking One building owner, Don Sabatini, and one merchant,Parham Noori were present and both discussed theyelIow zone removal: for and against, respectively. Comm. O'Donnell stated that he had queried severalstores at this location and the response was to keepthe ye1Iow zone. The Traffic Engineer sent a letterto merchants in the area asking for their responseto the removal. Two replies were received request-ing that the yeI1ow zone remain. comm- Auran will rook into the situation. This itemwill be on the September agenda as an Actj-on Item. 1 Request for Crosswalk with pedestrian Rollins Road,/Edwards Road Crossing Sign- Comm. O'Donnell stated that he had viewed thesituation and that this is a wide street with a 35m.p.h. speed Iimit and, therefore, recommended thatpedestrians at this tocation be careful. However,the Commissioner felt no need for a crosswalk atthis location. TSP Minutes Page 2 :he Traffj.c Engineer stated that the City's Fclicy:s to eliminate crosswalks if dangerous for tedes-:rian use (e.9., no stop sign) since a natj-onatsurvey shows that most pedestrians kiIIed are in a:rosswalk at the time of the accident. There:ore,:o place a crosswalk at this location would en-.ourage pedestrian accidents. Also, while inspect-:ng this location, no one crossed the street. -olores Harrison was present and stated that rost of:he use is during the lunch hour and feels that a:rosswalk would be to the pedestrianrs advantageia1so, that most of the traffic exceeds the sceed -imit on this road. :t was moved and seconded:o place this item on thefiscussion Item. Customers trying:o enter driveway must back out onto Calj-forn:a-rive (a very busy street) to 1et delivery tr':cksexit premises. Comm. O'DonneII agreed that the sj.tuation:here is a red zone there which could bea loading zone. l{r. It was motioned andseconded (Comms. O 'Donnel1/McDonnel I ) and una:.!i-mous-iy approved to place a red zone at this locatton. TSP Minutes Page 3 7 I 9 6.L.4 Request for Two-Hour Parking (Rector Cadiilac) The Traffic Engi.neer checked out thi-s location andfound a "car war" going on between Rector Cadillac and Mike Harvey whose business just recently movedto this location. Therefore, there is a parking problem now. A review of the situation is needed;with possibly eliminating a green zone, adding ayellow zon.e and extending parking to two hours.
