Comm. OrDonnell reported that the local merchantsrequest that 8 parking meters on the east side and 5meters on the west side of Lorton be changed to 2-hourmeters. The total cost is approximatety 52,7OO(includj.ng instattation). Discussion ensued and thequestion was asked - woutd the melchants help tofinance thj.s project? Chairman Koenigs direlted arequest to the Nothing But Nalls representative: tofind out whictr merchants would contribute and how much.This item lril1 be an Actj.on Item on the June Agenda.
Intersectj-on of Cortez and Carmelita - Request for
Four-Way Stop Signs (M. Chahal , tO4O Cortez)
Traffic Engineer submitted and sumnarized his report.
Number of warrants not enough to install stop sign.Discussion followed as to whether a need for stop sign,speed bumps, more enforcement, etc. It was moved andseconded (Comm. Auran/Evans) to make this an ActionItem at this meeting. Comm. Auran stated that the
amount of warrants is close enough to warrant a stopsign; perhaps the Chairman should approach City Councilto re-establish policy on number of warrants required.It was moved and seconded (Comm. Auran/O'Donnell ) witha 4-2 vote to recommend to the City Counci.I to approvethe installation of four-way stop signs.

The situation was discussed as to whether to provide crossingguards and who would provlde them. The resident of 7lj Walnutpleaded for a stop sign since this .i.s a ,'b1ind" crosswalk analfears smalL chj.ldren getting hit by a speeding car. Comm.Evans will i-nvestigate the situation. No Loading Sign - 327 Lorton Avenue (Letter fromMithoo Benner )
Traffic Engineer reported that there is a definite problemwith Nate's doors on Lorton since they open outward obstruct-ing the sidewalk. A1so, the garbage canl are left out forpick up and delivery trucks park iilegally on Lorton. Comm.orDonnelr wirl investigate this situaiion. This item will bea Discussion Item on the June Agenda.
