NEW BUSINESS.
6. l-. 1 Traffic Concerns McKinley School .
Eleven residents attended the meeting, several of
them speaking to the Commission on behalf ofMcKinley School's traffic plan for block surroundingthe school .
On April L0, 1990 staff wrote a memo to the Com-mission reporting on requests made by McKinleySchool and the Parent Teachers Association foraditional traffic controls on streets surroundingthe school . Staff gave an observation of thereport which consisted of tr^re1ve items with iI-lustrated map of McKj.nley School area before theConnission and visj.tors. AIso reported on theresults of the L4O letters sent to the residents;the number of "yes" and "no" votes in the marked
boxes .
Staff gave statistics on accidents in thls area.AIso that double parking is a problem and that aone-rday street here would increase traffic.

Sgt. Harris reported that the need for a crossj,ngguard at Oak Grove/Carolan Avenue was a highpriorj.ty. A1so, that the white loading zone was3 minutes duration and if the school wanted a

There are seven crossing guards throughout the City;
three of these guards are on duty at McKinley
School .
After staff completed the report, the Chairman went
through the " Emergency-Traffj.c committee Report"
prepared by McKinley School PTA. This report con-tains six items. A11 of these were addressed by the
Chairman. Several of the residents had some input
regarding var j-ous items .
When the Chairman was finished with summarizingthe PTA report, it was decided by the Commission to
move this item to an Action Item for May Agenda.In the meantime, members of the Commission will
do more observation and study of the McKinley School
area.
