Commissioner preger. ROLL CALL. Six Commissioners present. CURRENT BUSINESS. 4.L Action Items. 4.1.L Minutes of May 14, 1992 approved as submittedby the Commission. Chairman Amoroso advised that Comm. Mayerrs absence in May had been excused. 4.1.2 Crossr,ralk in f ront ofBurlingame Avenue. Recreation Department on Comm. OrDonnel,l spoke with Recreation DirectorRay Wagner who advj"sed that he noticed there is some speeding here and suggested a "Slow" sign. Comm. O'Donnell noticed that there are "ChiI-dren at P1ay" signs, west- and eastbound onBurlingame Avenue at this location. Discussionfollowed regarding adding a light or some formof illumination of the crosswalk. Mr. Dellawayadvised that every crosswalk in the citycontains glass beads. A1so, there is a pG&E 1lght on the east side of Burlingame Avenueabout 1,00 feet west of the crossing. Mr.Dellaway suggested that a street light at thecrosswalk, at a cost of $25OO, might help thevisibllity problem at night. It was moved andseconded ( Comm. Karp/Evans ) to recommendinstallation of a light fixture at thiscrosswalki unanimously approved by the Commis-sion. Request for Stop Sign at Easton Drive andBalboa Avenue. Mr. Dellavray advised that there are Stop signson Balboa, but staff cannot recommend Stopsigns on Easton due to insufficient warrants. 4. 1.3 L. 2. 3. 4. None. Handi.cap Ramp Office.Lorton Avenue inInquiry back of for Post Chairman Amoroso advised that Comm. Slmonettispoke to the Postmaster who said they areexempt from being required to provide handicapfacilities; however, Comm. Karp advised thatthe handicap ramp has been approved forinstallation at the Post Office with construc-tion starting on June 15, 7992. The ramp,however, vrill be on park Road, not Lorton Avenue. This item wi.11 remain as an Inacti.ve ltem untilsuch time as the ramp is constructed. Staffand Commission to review the situation at thattime . Mr. Dellaway stated that per the postmaster, the ramp will provide access to both LortonAvenue and Park Road next to the public parkinglot . Comm. Karp stated that the lmpetus for the rampwas that someone had asked for a handicapparking space near the post Office, and it waisuggested that the space be provided afterinstallation of a handicap ramp. The post Office w111 put in the curb cut for the parkingspace at the same time the ramp is constructeal. 6 INFORMAT]ON ITEMS. 1 Comm. OrDonnelt asked the status of the overgrownbushes on Hiltside Circle which Comm. Simonetti hadaddressed at the May meeting. Mr. Dellaway advisedthat the Park Director said that this is private,not City property, so j.s the responsibility of theproperty owner. Mr. Dellaway stated that construc-tion w111 be under way very soon, and the busheswilL be removed then. 7 8 Ms. Geller suggested, for Item 4.L.3, that a ,'Speed Checked by Radar" sign be posted after radar checksare performed. Mr. Dellaway stated that the Citydoes not usualLy instalt radar signs in residentialstreets where speeds are relatively slow. The signsare mainly for arterial streets. Comm.
