CTIRRENT BUSINESS. 4.1 ACTION ITEUS. 4.L 1 llinutes of April 8, ]-993 approved subnitted by the Cornmission. 4.2 DTSCUSSTON rTEl.{S. 4.2 1 Request for Traffic Signal at California Drive and Sanchez Avenue comms. otDonnell and Preger surveyed thesite and saw no need for a signal . It rras moved and seconded (conms. Sinonetti/l,layer)to make this an Action Item and to denyrequest for a traffic signal at thisIocation,' unanimously approved by the Comnission. as 4.2.2 Request to Change Directional westbound Lanes on Howardcalifornia Drive Arross Avenue in at Comm. Amoroso surveyed this site and statedthat the westbound right lane does not continue across the intersection; therefore,the right lane shouLd be a turn lane. somediscussion ensued. It was moved and seconded (comms. Mayer/Simonetti) to makethis an Action Iten and (conms. o'Donne11/ Mayer) to deny request to change directional arrows; unaniroously approved by the Commission. 3 Request for four-Way Stop Signs at Bayswater and Arundel Comm. Ii{ayer surveyed the site and saw no need for 4 -rray stop signs as they would only slow progression of traffic. lIr. Dellaway 4.2 4.2.4 4.2.5 5. INACTIVE ITXI{S. 6. NEW BUSINESS. stated that there are no rrarrants and visibility is good. It was noved and seconded (conms. o I Donnell/Uayer) to make this an Action Item and (conms. uayet /Sinonetti) to deny request for 4-way stop signsi unanimously approved by the Cornmission. 5.1 Lincoln school Traffic Request to Relocate Trro Existing Parking spaces at 321-333 california Drive to South End of Property to Acconmodate Valet service !Ir. Dellaway showed the plans council has approved. Council approved a trial period for the project to be reviewed six months after tht opening of business. with the cLosure of the existinq driveways and nroving t$ro parking spaces, there uiII be no loss of parking space. Request for Green Zone at 1368 Rotlins Road Comm. OrDonnell surveyed the site and sah, no problen with request. comm. Karp commented Lhat we rnay be adding too many restricted parking zones. Deltaway stated that staff has received no correspondence from the school. AIso, he heard about a sinilar problem at Ray Parki however, no correspondence his been received on that issue either-. This is to remain as an Inactive Item. 6 1 Request for Red zone at 1655 Rollins Road ur. Dellahray stated that the red zone has been added already; however, he requests the Comnissioners to survey the site since the zone may be longer than necessary. This will appear as a DiscusJion Item at the next meeting. Petitioner arrived late adding that the nel red zone 'is too long and requests reconsideration on the length. 6 2 Request No Parking, Except Sundays and Holidays, on westbound side of carnelita between EI canino Real and California Drive conm. Amoroso surveyed the site and noted that the restricted parking ls during Peak conmute hours in the norning for eastbound traffic and in the evening for westbound. staff stated that naking only one side restricted during both peak conmute hours would be helpful for enforcement. Conm. Amoroso acknowledged that the resldents have a right to their street. This will appear aE a Diicusslon Iten at the next roeeting. Petitioner arrived late and was apprised of status and invited to attend the next meeting. 6.3 Use of Pub1ic Parking Area Behind 1333 Holrard Avenue 6.4 Mr. Love r{ras present and advised that until october 1-992, 10 parking spaces in the public Lot at therear of the store had been used by the forner owners for temporary storaqe of used and neu appliances which were moved out daily. The new owners currently use only three spaces and request that these parking spaces (*15,L6,17) be nade into Loading zones or request to pay nonthly for these spaces. comm. Mayer surveyed the site and stated that it appears Space #15 blocks the fire exit and nay be an il1ega:. space. comm. Amoroso asked if the City rents such space for other than autoparking. ttr. Dellaway said no and that the council rnust rule on this request. There is no intent to al1ow businesses to use the parking spaces for storaqe of urerchandise, thereby preventing thepubli- fron parking there. This lot is for pubTic parking not for businesses r' however, the Police Dept. does not ticket delivery trucks for conmerce sake. It was noved and seconded (conms. Evans/ Mayer) that staff investigate the best nethod thispelitionerts request can be resolvedl unanimously approved by the Conrnission. Request for Restricted Parking use at 1835 Rollins Road conn. orDonnell surveyed the site and stated that the petitioner requests a height linitation on parked vehicles or a red zone for better visibility when exiting driveway. l,!s. schwerin (of 1815 Rollins) was present and advised that trucks often park at this location which cuts visibility. Both locations provide on-site parking for employees and custoners. It was moved and seconded (Conns. Preger/Mayer) to nake this an Action rtem and (cornms. ol Donnell/lIayer ) to provide a height linit parkinq sign on the north side of 1815 Rollins Road drivewiyr' unanimously approved by the Conmission. 5.5 Request for Green Zone at 1570 Gilbreth Road Conm. Iitayer stated that th16 business has five employee parking spaces on site and suggested thatthe petitioner provide a Epace for customers. Conm. orDonnell stated that they should also provide a sign advising of parking available at therear, This will appear as a Discussion Iten at the next meeting. 5 Request for Red zone on Creek side of 1510 Rollins Road conn. o'Donnell stated that due to trucks parking there, visibility is blocked for 3or when exiting the driveway. comm. Ilayer suggested reducing the Iength of the existing red zone which extends tothe bridge to provide more parkinq space. ur. Dellaway will survey the site with this ln nlnd. conm. Karp suggested putting height linits on sidestreets and truck parking on Rollins to avoidadditionat restricted parking zones. This wil-l appear as a Discussion Item at the next neeting. 6.7 Request for stop sign at Bayswater and Lorton and Red Zone at 1110 Bayswater Staff advised that the petitioner is out of town so unable to attend meeting. This will appear as a Discussion Iten at the next meeting. INFORMATION ITEMS. FROM THE FLOOR. l,[s. Kappen of 1443 Floribunda requests extending the red zone next to her driveway due to cars andtrucks parking there and cutting visibility of cross traffic when exiting driveway. sometimescars park well into the red zone. A1so, she measured the parking space there and it is only9.3i long which seems too short for a parking space. She realizes parking spaces are liuited but has come close to colliding with cross traffic whenexiting her driveway. This will appear as New Busj.ness at the next neeting. l{s.
