CALL TO ORDER. 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Karp.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG. Commissioner Mayer.
ROLL CALL. Six Commissioners present.
CURRENT BUSINESS.
4.1 ACTION ITEMS.
4.t.1 Minutes of September 8, 1994 approved as submitted by the
Commission.
INACTIVE ITEMS.
NEW BUSINESS.
Request for 2-Hour Parking Signs on Ralston between Occidental and El Camino
Real
From the floor, Ms. Spadoni fully explained that her telephone request is not for
2-hour parkings signs since they are already posted. Her request is to keep the
signs and have the Police Department ignore their enforcement. The signs were
installed to alleviate the problem of insufficient public parking in the immediate
area; however, now that there is more public parking available, the 2-hr parking
limit is not only archaic, it is inconvenient for residents on this street and their
guests.
Mr. Dellaway stated that the Commission should consider eliminating the signs
since Police enforcement cannot be ignored. Officer Dahlstrom agreed.
Commissioner Evans suggested the commissioners look at the sight for their
evaluation. It was moved and seconded (Comm. Evans/Mayer) to make this an
Action Item for the November meeting; unanimously approved by the
Commission. Comm. Amoroso volunteered to talk to the Safeway manager since
removing the signs might encourage their employees to start parking on Ralston.
Request for No Parking Signs on Rollins at Oak Grove and Yield Sign on East
Lane, Southbound, at South Lane
Mr. Dellaway reviewed the Rollins Road location and suggested height limitation
parking signs as opposed to No Parking signs since there is a need for parking
availability. However, he sees no need for a Yield sign on Carolan (East Lane)

since it is a main thoroughfare. Officer Dahlstrom agreed to the height limitation
sign and suggested the Yield sign be posted on South Lane at Carolan (East
Lane). It was moved and seconded (Comm. Karp/Amoroso) to make this an
Action Item for the November meeting; unanimously approved by the
Commission.
7. INFORMATION ITEMS
7.t State Automobile Association Awards Burlingame - Outstanding Achievement in
Pedestrian Protection
Comm. Karp requested that staff send a note to the Mayor thanking her for
sharing this correspondence with the commission.
7.2 Commissioners Mayer and Simonetti Reappointments Approved
Comm. Karp commended Comms. Mayer and Simonetti on their reappointments
to the commission.
Comm. Evans stated that the Fire Station on California Drive has what appears
to be a malfunctioning of a timer for the red light/flashing yellow for the exiting
fire trucks. The flashing yellow turns red causing traffic to stop. Then the red
turns flashing yellow before the trucks have exited so traffic starts moving. Then
just as the trucks exit, the light turns red again. This has occurred on two
separate occasions. Comm. Karp requested staff to advise Chief Towns of this
potential traffic hazard.
7.4 Comm. Simonetti advised that Eucalyptus tree roots on Easton are growing into
the street. It was recommended that staff advise the Beautification Commission
via Park Director Rich Quadri of this sinration.
7.5 Comm. Amoroso stated that since he was advised that the Council did not pass
the Commission's recommendation to institute green zone fees, the local
newspaper announced that a major business will be leaving the city which will
affect the tax base.
Mr. Dellaway advised that although the Council voted to deny green zone fees,
they were very appreciative of Comm. Amoroso's efforts and the recommenda-
tion submitted by the Commission.
