Amoroso feels reguest for a go-foot green zone is excessive. !{r. Dellaway recoDmended tuo spaces, each 2o-feet inlength, stating that this arrangement wouLd be nore than adequate. From the floor, ttr. Ruggieri stated that theyare stilt experiencing the sane parkingsituation rrith Avis empLoyees parking, overnight parkingr, etc. conm. Evans addressedthe fact that this is an unlimited parklng area, and Avls said they would fook into otheroptions. It was rnoved and seconded (conn. Amoroso/Evans) to move this to an Action Itemat the next meeting; unanimouEly approved bythe conmission. 5.INA.CTTVE ITEI/IS . 5.1 Avis Enployees Parking on cowan Road comm. !,!ayer stated that this is a public street and unless restrictions are added, there is no reason not to allow parking. l,[r. Del].ahray stated that he recently net with an Avisexecutive from New York and their local manager to discuss a Left-turn lane on southbound Bayshore at Stanton to access Avis' garage which is underutilized. 2 Iraffl.c, aafety and ParXl.ng conmls8l.on ;Ianuary L3, 1994 Both rentaf cars and employees park there. DIr. Dellawayis checking on the feasibility of this turn at Avis'expense. This could relieve the parking problen on Cowan. 6.NEI{ BUSINESS. 6.L stop sign on Fairfield ur. Dellaway stated that the orrner of 841 Fairfield wentto the Planning Comroission for a pernit to build a waLL which extends into the city right-of-way, and a conditionof the pernit reguires a stop sign at the owner's expensesince the waIl linits driver visibility. Edgehill endsin a trteex intersection at Fairfield. The Planning Commission is requesting that this cornnission okay the condltion for a stop sign on Fairfield. Discussion ensued as to the expediting of this request and the need for a stop sign. Without a pernit the owneris not able to continue construction which was started before the olrner realized that a pernit is required. Fron the floor, the owner, Mike Rudolph, spoke about the need for a stop sign here due to Lncreased traffic lrhatrrith neu condominiums and school and church traffic. He stated that his neighbors are supportive of this request. l!r. Dellaway stated that this is only a l-way Stop signnot a 4-way where rrarrants would be reguired. This commission could help expedite the pernit by reconmending the Pl.anning Comrnission,s conditions of approval. comm. Evans supports the recornrnendation of the Traffic Enqi-neer. It was noved and seconded (comm. Uayer/Evans) based on the Traffic Enqineer's reconnendation to reconmend approval of a stop sign so that the orrner could obtain a building pernit; approved by the comission with 4 Ayes and 1 No (conn. Sirnonetti). 7.INFOR!.{ATION TTEMS . 7 1 Cornrnission chairnan/vice chairman Election for 1994 comm. Preger requested that the L994 chairman/vj.ce chairman nominations and election be placed on the February Agenda. comm. Evans discussed his tour with a Burlingame polJ.ceofficer one evening and felt that many drl,vers entering Broadway fron Highway 101 seem confused with the threelanes and their narkings that begin just east of therailroad tracks. !Ir. DeLlaway stated that other citieswith railroad tracks experience the same problens. 3 7.2 I Traffic, aafety aDdl Partl.rg conmissio[January 13, 1994 Sgt. UcDonneII stated that the Traffic ConnLssioner issatiEfied rrith the markings at this location and upholds any citations adninistered here. Conm. Mayer asked about the rubberized crossing.
