Request for 4-Way Stop Signs at Peninsula Avenue and Lorton
Avenue
Per Mr. Dellaway, City of San Mateo requested we duplicate their
markings (red zones on Peninsula, both sides of lorton); and we
have done so. It wils moved and seconded (Comm. Evans/Preger)
to recommend denial of this request since ttrc City has aheady taken
action; unanimously approved by the Commission.
Request for Parking Permits/Increased Parking Spaces in
Iortor/Peninsula Avenue Area
Sgt. Haseleu advised that the number of parking spaces has been
increased and since we do not issue such permits due to lack of
staff, recommends denying this request. It was moved and seconded
(Comm. Karp/Evans) to recommend denial of this request based on
previous month's discussion and staff support; unanimously
approved by the Commission.
Request for Stop Sign at Ray Drive and Davis Drive
From the floor, Michael Thompson advised there is no crosswalk
at this location. Also, there are more children in the area so is
concerned about drivers going up Ray Drive and turning left at this
intersection going faster than it is safe to do so.
Mr. Dellaway advised there is no record of any accidents, and
traffic volumes don't warrant a Stop sign. Suggested red zones if
visibility a problem. Mr. Thompson advised that red zones not
helpful due to odd angle of turn and drivers going too fast. Sgt.
Haseleu recommended painting a crosswalk and adding a Yield

sign. Also, there is no speeding problem. Drivers turn at 15-20 mph
which is still legal. Comm. Norton stated this is a great location for
speed humps if we had them. Mr. Dellaway suggested the radar
trailer be placed there. Sgt. Haseleu advised it has been placed there
and will place it there again. It was moved and seconded (Comm.
Preger/Evans) to recommend denial of this request based on lack of
warrants and speeding citations; unanimously approved by the
Commission. At petitioners request, Mr. Dellaway will send the
petitioner a copy of the accident report for this intersection.

Dwight and Peninsula. It was recommended that this be moved to a Discussion
item at Orc next meeting giving all commissioners an opportunity to view the site.
6.2 Request for Removal of 2-Hour Parking Limit on Paloma, South of Broadway, or
Issue Residential Permit Stickers
From the floor three Paloma residents, Paulette Sudano, Natasha Westco and Judy
Richmond, advised they would like to know why new 2-hour Parking Limit signs
were installed on their street and requested parking permit stickers be issued to
residents to alleviate their parking problem caused by Broadway merchants and
customers taking up all the spaces. Family members and visitors have little or no
parking available to them. The opposite side of the street has no such parking
signs.

Traffic, Safety and Parking Commission Minutes November 9, 1995
Sgt. Haseleu advised the signs already posted state 2-hour parking from here to
comer but there weren't enough signs displayed to enforce this requirement. These
signs were requested years ago by residents because the merchants and employees
were parking all day long. Residents present stated all day parking is better than
2 hour. Sgt. Haseleu suggested removing the 2-hour parking signs. It was moved
and seconded (Comm. Evans/Karp) to move this to an Action item next month;
unanimously approved by the Commission.
7. INFORMATION ITEMS.
