CALL TO ORDER. 7:00 p.m. by Vice Chairman Evans. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG. Vice Chairman Evans 3. ROLL CALL. 5 of 6 Commissioners present. 4. CURRENT BUSINESS 4.1 ACTION ITEMS. 4.L.1 Minutes of March 14, L996 approved as submitted by the Commission. 4.1.2 Peninsula Avenue Crosswalk at Stanley Road Per Mr. Dellaway, no further response has been received from the City of San Mateo or the Shopping Center offering to help finance installation of beacons for the crosswalk. Sgt. Haseleu reiterated that there have been no accidents or problems reported for this crosswalk. It was moved and seconded (Comm. Simonetti/Amoroso) to move this item to Inactive status; unanimously approved by the Commission. 4.1.3 Request for Removal of Two Parking Limit Signs on Paloma Sgt. Haseleu sees no problem with removing these signs but keeping the posts in place should the residents request the signs again as they had two years before. It was moved and seconded (Comm. Simonetti/Amoroso) to remove these parking limit signs on Paloma and leave the poles in place; unanimously approved by the Commission. 4.2 DISCUSSION ITEMS. 4.2.t Request for Two Green Zones at 839C Hinckley Road The petitioner was not present; and after discussion, it was moved and seconded to make this an Action item next month. \-,5. NEW BUSINESS. 6.r April ll,1996 \- Request for Removal of All Parking Restrictions on the South Side of the 1100 Block of Carmelita Avenue Sgt. Haseleu stated there are only two spaces here and suggested leaving it as is. Mr. Dellaway agreed stating that the restriction was only from 7-9 o.D., Monday through Friday during the morning commute. This will be a Discussion item next month. 6.2 Request for Several Traffic Signs for 226 Lorton Avenue Mr. Dellaway advised this driveway is private property and is split between PIP Printing and Radio Shack, but drivers turn into this driveway from Hatch Lane to exit onto Lorton Avenue. Sgt. Haseleu recommended to the petitioner when she called him to install a sliding gate and a one-way sign to Hatch Lane. Mr. Dellaway advised a No U Turn sign in the middle of [,orton is inappropriate. This will be a Discussion item next month. Radio Shack will also receive the Agenda. 6.3 Request for Red Zone at 11 Guittard Road The petitioner was not present. This will be a Discussion item next month 7. INFORMATION ITEMS. 7.1 Sgt. Haseleu advised that the Goodwill Store north of Broadway on California Drive opened today and had received several complaints from neighbors about the parking. He will keep an eye on the situation but expects it to quiet down soon after the opening today. 7.2 Comm. Simonetti asked if we had heard when Caltrans would replace the Hillside/E1 Camino Real sign. Mr. Dellaway advised no word as yet. 7.3 Mr. Dellaway advised that the bidding for rubberized tracks will go out in February L997. 8. FROM THE FLOOR. Councilmember Knight was present to discuss the parking situation for the new Goodwill Store which opened today and advised that Council recommended metered parking. Sgt. Haseleu advised that all the parking spaces were full today, even at the train station. Mr. Dellaway will bring the lot design next month. \-, 8.1 -3- t: v \.. Traffic, Safety and Parking Commission Minutes April Ll,1996 Councilmember Knight stated she received complaints about the height limit parking restriction on California Drive at Oak Grove Avenue and asked if these signs remained in effect after 5 p.m. Sgt. Haseleu stated they are enforced 24 hours; however, after hours the PD only responds if they receive a complaint. 8.2 Tim Bridges addressed Item 6.1 and was advised this item will be a Discussion item next month. 9.
