ROLL CALL. 6 Commissioners present.
CURRENT BUSINESS,
4,1 ACTION ITEMS.
4.1.1
January 11, 1996
Minutes of November 9, 1995 approved as submitted by the
Commission.
Nominations were made, and it was moved and seconded (Comm.
Simonetti/Karp) to elect Comm. Norton as 1996 Chairman;
unanimously approved by the Commission. It was then moved and
seconded (Comm. Simonetti/Preger) to elect Comm. Evarx as 1996
Vice Chairman; unanimously approved by the Commission.
Request for Removal of the Two Newly Placed 2-Hour Parking
Limit Signs on Paloma Avenue
From the floor Paloma Avenue residents Paulette Sudano and Judy
Richmond recapped their reasons for this request and again
suggested a parking permit program for residents. Mr. Dellaway
advised that the signs satisfied the ordinance requirement which
enables BPD to monitor parking. He and Sgt. Haseleu have no
problem with removing these signs; however, Director of Public
Works, Ralph Kirkup, suggested bagging the signs for a trial period
and monitoring parking space use. Monitoring would be by BPD
tracking license plates, to determine residency, and by complaints
received. It was moved and seconded (Comm. Evars/Simonetti) on
the advice of City staff to bag the 2-hour parking limit signs on
Paloma Avenue for two months and to then evaluate the situation as
monitored by the Burlingame Police Department; unanimously
approved by the Commission.

4.2 DISCUSSION ITEMS.
4.2.1 Request for Traffic Study of Peninsula Avenue Crosswalk at Stanley Road
Mr. Dellaway stated that people exceeding the speed limit here is
noticeable. He would like to have the crosswalk removed since it's only
one block from the traffic signals at Dwight Road but felt that local
residents who use this crosswalk would resent it. Mr. Dellaway agreed with
some of the petitioner's suggestions and suggested increasing enforcement
of speed limit, installing Bots dots in roadway, adding road markings and
signs to alert drivers of the crosswalk. Comm. Karp and Officer Dahlstrom
recommended a flashing yellow light and that both Burlingame PD and San
Mateo PD monitor speeders. It was moved and seconded (Comm.
Mayeri Simonetti) to move this item to an Action item next meeting;
unanimously approved by the Commission. Mr. Dellaway will get cost
estimate for flashing light and will request the City of San Mateo to share
the expense.
5. INACTIVE ITEMS.
5.1 Suggestion to Change lO-Hour Parking Meters to 2 Hours in Parking Lot K for
Review after the Holidays (Awaiting the review in parking at the new Library site.)
No public corrments have been received.
6. NEWBUSINESS.
6.1 Request for Height Limit Signs at 1611 Adrian Road
From the floor Stan Parker advised that this request is for safety purposes. Because
of semis parking near their driveway, drivers exiting can't see southbound traffic.
Some discussion followed. It was moved and seconded (Comm.Karp/Evans) to
move this item to a Discussion item next meeting to give time for everyone to
review the site; unanimously approved by the Commission.
6.2 Request for Two Green Zones and Four One-Hour Parking Spaces on Ingold Road
From the floor Richard Buike advised that the parking problem has worsened and
people park for the full day now and in the evening health club members from two
nearby clubs use the on-street spaces and without permission also use their off-
street parking spaces. There is no short term parking on Ingold. Green zones are
adequate for his business or l-hour spaces. Officer Dahlstrom advised enforcement
would be by complaints only. Mr. Dellaway sees no problem with l-hour parking.
There is space on the north side to provide five (5) parking spaces. It was moved
and seconded (Comm. Karp/Preger) to move this item to a Discussion item next
meeting; unanimously approved by the Commission.
