RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
EXTENDING THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE CURRENTLY HELD BY
TCI AMERICAN CABLE HOLDINGS H, L.P., TO OCTOBER 31, 1998, AND
DECLARING INTENTION RENEW THE CABLE SYSTEM FRANCHISE BETWEEN
THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AND TCI AMERICAN CABLE HOLDINGS H, L.P.
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame:
WHEREAS, on June 15, 1981, the City of Burlingame granted a franchise to Pacific Cable
Television for the providing of cable television services, which franchise was to terminate on June 24,
1996; and
WHEREAS, on May 20, 1996, the City Council approved a one-year extension of the
franchise to June 24, 1997, in order to allow Pacific Cable to complete its transfer of the franchise
to TCI CableVision; and
WHEREAS, on June 2, 1997, the City Council adopted a resolution extending the franchise
for seven (7) months to January 31, 1998, to allow the franchise transfer to occur and to conduct
negotiations on a renewal of the franchise, and the transfer of the franchise to TCI CableVision did
occur in June 1997; and
WHEREAS, on January 20, 1998, the City Council adopted a resolution extending the
franchise to August 31, 1998; and
WHEREAS, negotiations between the City and TCI have resulted in a draft agreement that
requires public hearing and consideration, adoption of implementing ordinances, and a period of time
before it becomes effective; and
WHEREAS, an extension to October 31, 1998, would allow these requirements to proceed
and would be in the best interests of the City and the public; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing should be set for consideration of the proposed franchise
renewal and receipt of testimony and documentation from all interested persons,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council ofthe City ofBurlingame does
hereby resolve, determine, and find as follows:
The cable television franchise currently held by TCI American Cable Holdings II, L.P.
be extended to October 31, 1998, for the purpose of completing the process of reviewing the renewal
of the franchise.
2. A public hearing will be held on September 9, 1998, at 7 p.m. or as soon thereafter
as the matter may be heard, to consider the proposed renewal and franchise agreement and receive
testimony and documentation from all interested persons.

Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the3 rd day of AUGUST
1998, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
