HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 044-1998RESOLUTION NO. 44-98 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME APPROVING CONTRACTS WITH ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING FIRMS TO PROVIDE ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS SERVICES TO THE CITY FOR A THREE-YEAR PERIOD RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame: WHEREAS, the City uses environmental consulting firms to assist in the preparation of environmental documents pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and in City projects that require special or technical assistance; and WHEREAS, if the City were to use a request for proposals on each and every one of these projects, the projects would be unnecessarily delayed, the level of expertise applied to each project would be diluted, and staff time unnecessarily consumed; and WHEREAS, the City has instead issued a Request for Proposals to retain a number of environmental consulting firms for a three-year period, who will be on call to provide the necessary environmental technical and preparation work in support of land use reviews and City projects; and WHEREAS, the City received responses from a number of highly qualified firms, who were interviewed, and a recommendation made to retain four of the firms because of their special expertise, capability, responsiveness, and experience on the Peninsula; and WHEREAS, the proposed retention contracts are in the public interest and will provide the quality of environmental review that CEQA demands, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED AND ORDERED: 1. The selection of the following environmental consulting firms for a three-year retention is approved: EIP Associates Environmental Sciences Associates Lamphier and Associates Thomas Reid and Associates -1- 2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to execute the agreements with these four firms in the general form as attached as Exhibit A hereto, and the City Clerk is directed to attest to the signature of the Manager. 3. The City Planner, the City Director of Public Works, and the City Director of Parks & Recreation are authorized to utilize these firms as they may determine will best serve the interests of the City and the community in environmental assistance and analysis on City land us ' hews and City projects.
