RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
ADOPTING FEES FOR THE COSTS OF DESIGN REVIEW BY
DESIGN REVIEW ADVISORY PANEL
WHEREAS, the City is adopting an ordinance that would create a design review process for
review of second story additions and construction and utilize a design review panel, who will be
consultants to the City on design review; and
WHEREAS, the City will incur significant costs of processing applications for second story
construction and additions in the contracts costs of the consultants, City staff, preparation of reports,
and review of plan submittals; and
WHEREAS, the costs of such processing appear to reasonably approximate the costs of
processing a variance or conditional use permit application; and
WHEREAS, the fees and deposits required of applicants to pay for these costs will be less
than the actual costs incurred by the City in this regulatory activity,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. Applicants for design review of second story and taller construction and additions pursuant
to Ordinance No. 1591 shall pay a fee of $310 at the time of submittal of the application. In addition,
applicants shall deposit the sum of $500 at the time of submittal from which the costs of the City
design consultant shall be paid. If and when such deposit is drawn down, the City Planner shall
require an additional deposit based on an estimate of the work required ofthe consultant to complete
the design review. Work on the application shall cease until such/ e as t4p-&J S t is made.

Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 20th day of April,
1998, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
