HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 15711 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 ORDINANCE No. 15 D ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AMENDING CHAPTER 15.08 ESTABLISHING WASTEWATER COLLECTION RATES AND CHARGES The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME does hereby ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 15.08.070 ofthe Burlingame Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "15.08.070 Sewer rental—Service charges. Every person whose premises in the city are served by a connection with the system of sewerage of the city, whereby the sewerage or industrial wastes, or either or both, are disposed by the city, shall pay a bimonthly sewer charge based upon the quantity of metered water per bimonthly billing period as set forth in the following rate schedule, whether such water is derived from a source other than city water supply or all or part of such water is furnished to the premises without charge. The director of public works shall determine the classification of uses not specifically listed. The finance director shall have the discretion and authority to establish a different sewer charge when circumstances such as water leaks or unseasonable or atypical water usage cause established rates to result in inequitably low or high sewer charges; any such determination shall be reviewed by the city manager upon request from the customer. Classification (1) Single-family/duplex (2) Multi -family residential Amount $229 per thousand gallons of average water consumption for the billing periods January through April of the years 1995, 1996, and 1997. $2.91 per thousand gallons of water consumption for the current billing period. 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 (3) Restaurant, caterers, supermarkets, bakeries and other commercial food processing and food -related commercial (4) Moderate strength commercial, including manufacturing, commercial or industrial laundries, hotels with restaurants and hospitals (5) Light strength commercial including office -warehouse, office buildings, cocktail lounges, auto -related, carwash, laundromats, convalescent homes and hotels without restaurants (6) Institutional (schools and churches) $8.15 per thousand gallons of water consumption for the current billing period. $6.18 per thousand gallons of water consumption for the current billing period. $4.24 per thousand gallons of water consumption for the current billing period. $.86 per thousand gallons of water consumption for the current billing period." Section 2. The schedule of rates shall be effective for all billings on and after September 4, 1997. Section 3. The City Council finds that the rates adopted by this ordinance are not discriminatory or excessive and are intended to provide sufficient revenue to operate the water enterprise pursuant to the Government Code. Section 4. This ordinance shall be published as required bylaw. Mayor I, JUDITH A.
