HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 15831 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 ]2 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 ORDINANCE No. 1583 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 13.38 TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY ENGINEER TO EXTEND THE TIMES AND DAYS IN WHICH PARTICULAR LOADING AND SHORT TERM PARKING ZONES ARE EFFECTIVE The CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BiJRI,INGA1VfE does hereby ordain as follows: Section 1. Certain loading and short teen parking zones in the City should or will need to be effective during hours beyond 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or on Sundays and holidays, and the City Engineer should have the authority to determine when such additional restrictions are called for. Section 2. Section 13.38.020 is amended to read as follows: 13.38.020 Curb markings to indicate stopping and parking regulations. (a) The city engineer is authorized, subject to the provisions and limitations ofthis title, to place, and when required herein shall place, the following curb markings to indicate parking or standing regulations, and such curb markings shall have the meanings as herein set fort h: (1) "Red" shall mean no stopping, standing or parking at any time except as permitted by the Vehicle Code or this title, and except that a bus may stop in a red zone marked or signed as a bus stop. (2) "Yellow" shall mean no stopping, standing or parking at any time between eight a.m. and six p.m. of any day except Sundays and holidays for any purpose other than the loading or unloading of passengers or freight. The city engineer may apply these restrictions for longer hours or on Sundays and holidays, or both, for particular yellow zones, and such additional restrictions shall be effective when signs are posted giving notice of the restrictions. (3) "White" shall mean no stopping standing or parking for any purpose other than loading or unloading or passengers, or for the purpose of depositing mail in an adjacent mail box, which shall not exceed three minutes, and such restrictions shall apply between eight a.m. and six p.m. of any day except Sundays and holidays and except that when such zone is in front of a hotel, theater 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 12 13 ]4 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 or public building, or in front of a mailbox, the restrictionsshallapply at all times. (4) "Green" shall mean no standing or parking for longer than thirty minutes, unless some other period of time is indicated, between eight a.m. and six p.m. on any day except Sundays and holidays. The city engineer may apply these restrictions for longer hours or on Sundays and holidays, or both, for particular green zones, and such additional restrictions shall be effective when signs are posted giving notice of the restrictions. (5) "Blue" shall mean no stopping, standing or parking for any purpose by any vehicle except those displaying a distinguishing plate or placard issued to disabled persons or disabled veterans. (b) The city engineer is authorized to establish zones combining any of the above curb markings for such hours and days as may be determined. Section 3. This ordinance shall be published as required by law.
